Bungie wants to keep it a subclass because it’s objectively the strongest thing in the game locked behind a major paywall, that’s why they kept stasis busted for a while and nerfed it when they made it free to access. The goal wasn’t to make it lore accurate or smoothly fitting into gameplay, it was to make a lot of money.

I absolutely despise how much sense this makes... I think about it.... And it tracks corporate agenda written all over it and that makes it even worse why can't we just have a game that's fun anymore without all the extra garbage attached
