6v6 is designed to be mindless fun. Just shoot and blast and go nuts with your abilities and supers. Nice, right? Sure it has rules and it's not a total spamfest like Mayhem. 3v3 is designed to attract more competitive players and it's a little harder to spam abilities when there isn't many players to use as fuel. Still it can be really sweaty by comparison.
So what's the middle ground here?
Something I noticed while spelunking in Control the other day when the algorithm changed up team numbers: everything ran a little better with 4v4. Now I'm not saying change it all back to this.
Just introduce a new game mode.
Here's the quick notes:
* 4v4
* no supers
* no exotics
* no ability regeneration; start off with what you bring
* small energy wells scattered through the map that give you a small dose of ability, and the well evaporates after passing through it; these will periodically return throughout the match
* capturing a zone gives you ability energy
* downing an opponent will not give ability energy
* special ammo generation is normal; start off with two ammo
* allow teammate revives
Not sure what to call it since it's only a general idea. Let me know what you think.
