Not every exotic needs to be craftable. Not only that but wouldn't your suggestion take longer than just getting a sword ? There are 3 different frames and 8 different Intrinsic traits, that Ergo can come with and each sword comes with one frame and one Intrinsic. You are suggesting that in order for us to be able to craft one, we will need to collect 5 of each frames and Intrinsic traits. I am not a supporter of the crafting mechanic, But even i have to ask why you would make the criteria so high. At this point you might as well just go and farm for the roll you want.

you're taking this too seriously. I'm not the arbiter of what does and doesn't happen in this game, and my comment on how permanent unlocks should be earned was made in passing. For all I care, Bungie could make all the traits and frames selectable at no cost/grind to anyone that owns the sword. But you dislike crafting so much, and simultaneously hate the fact that earning the traits in the way I initially suggested would be grindy? As in, the very premise on which crafting was created in the first place?

You do say in your post that each frame and trait it could require 5 patterns to unlock. That was your suggestion. I was just pointing out the flaw in your thinking. You suggested 5 for each, and i just merely said that it would take a long time to get it.
