i like that its not, want the gear, go play the old content like we all did.

No. No we didn't. The sweaty vocal minority whined that crafting made guns feel less special, do not lump us in with them. I personally enjoyed crafting. I think the tier system is an ok compromise. That said exotic weapons have been craftable up until the praxic blade, which still functions almost identically to craftable weapons, and few people have complained.

This argument may work for legendary items that we can easily grind for, but it doesn't work for rare exotic items that have a ridiculous number of perk combinations. A craftable Ergo Sum would be a god-send.

The only people that were complaining were the streamers and rng addicts who thought it made the loot chase irrelevant when they had the wonderful option to unlock the patterns but never interact with crafting, period. But they couldn't handle the temptation so they needed daddy bungie to remove crafting so their only choice was to do their precious rng loot grind.

That is not the point, obviously the sugestion is to free vault slots and so you don't have to keep 20 variants of the same stuff
