Plenty of others have said this but there are factors to consider:
1. Will it continue to be an online game or not?
2. If it will be, can the servers support it?
3. Will enough people be up for buying it again to justify the cost of a remake/remaster?
4. What studio would be in charge, Bungie or another one?
5. What sort of changes do players want to see aside from framerate?
Maybe I missed some or maybe none of these are actually factors but they seem kind of important.

FoV... I recently saw a vid criticizing the art direction in D2 vs. D1. 90% of what they said was total opinion or directly related to FoV and draw distances. And even though D1 is in its final version... I'd like to see how they feel in a month.

I suspect that would fall under number 5, "......changes players do want to see......" Probably other things as well like mantling but honestly, too many additions or QoL changes and how much of the original game would remain?

I’d be happy with just adding mantling and bringing back special events.

That seems reasonable to me, but when you look at other remakes the studios don't necessarily stop at a few QoL additions. Just look at 'FF VII Remake/Rebirth;' those games are a far cry from what it originally was. Granted, that was 1997 and a lot has changed since then but much has changed since 'D1,' too.
