I took me longer than I care to admit to realise that nothing in this game is special, if you miss out on anything that is time gated or limited, it will be back or it won't be worth getting anyway.
So many times I sunk time into getting something to realise I won't even use it and it will gather dust. Not just weapons, but even titles, triumphs, sparrows, and whatever else.
The Rite of the Nine is another perfect example of fomo... 9 weeks and it will go away so get in there and chase the carrot on the stick for hours on end for loot that is obviously perk-weighted STILL.

Unfortunately this is what happens when people miss out, then whine and cry about how it's unfair that they didn't get it ahen they had the chance. Naturally, bungie gives in and brings the stuff back so people will shut up, and as a result, removes any special feeling people had from acquiring something rare or unique.

Bungie has to come up with a new gig. They are trying for it to be random rolls again. But they have -blam!- themselves in the foot with 3.0 creating such an ability meta. Ironically I think PVE is the best it’s ever been with variety and nuanced strats, weapon combos and interaction. However, that does make the meta very amorphous and not something they can pin down to bait with specific weapons and perks. They are also very one weapon meta adverse these days. So basically… weapons will never mean what they need them to mean as far as fomo. It works so well for years but those days are gone. I wonder how they pivot
