The issue with Briarbinds is that in most higher difficulty activities it's not really usable where you would die 10 times before you are able to reach the void soul across the room and pick it up again, so an easy solution to this would be to make the void soul work like shoot to loot. And before you jump in here and saying it will be broken, bungie can easily give it a cool down before it can be shot to return to player. e.g. it has to be deployed for 10 seconds before it can be shot.
