Trials needs more players, as Bungie said trials best weekend is worse than IBs worst weekend. Meaning there is something fundamentally turning players away from trials and actively killing the population. Bungie also pointed out how most trials players are actually solo players not teams. So these changes are means to increase the population by giving players a reason to play instead of not even engaging

So these changes are means to increase the population by giving players a reason to play instead of not even engaging
And Trials of the Nine did it better. Gave you access to the bottom of the lighthouse & how many wins on your card determined how high up the lighthouse you climbed (Physical progression) As well as every season had armor ornaments (for regular gameplay) + Glows of those ornaments for flawless. What we need is more loot in trials, and trials was designed specifically to be an exclusive experience, that is the nature of 3v3 gamemodes. If Trials had more loot & more updates like Iron banner (Or eververse) gets we'd see increased player population. If competitive was thriving and had more content (Exclusive rewards; armor sets, cosmetics) The sweats that populate Trials...would mostly move over to comp. Bungie failed to do that and now Trials is biting the bullet. The new system makes it so that bottom of the barrel players only have A CHANCE to get an adept. Not like adepts are a game changer, they barely matter enough as it is- especially when they get handed out for free (Igneous hammer this event...) Further devaluing the reason to play trials. My Dazzling Iridescence is on the line, it is now so much easier to get (And exploit) with this new system & less rewarding as a result... all the effort i put into in acquiring this emblem to show off is now being undermined due to new systems. It is the D1 Scarab Heart controversy all over again (They let players earn trials emblems specific to wins after flawless - From Crucible bounties) There are changes I like & then there are changes that devalue and undermine the Dedicated playerbase.

1. The difference between trials and IB is trials you can play for hours and get squat unlike with IB you can actually earn stuff. Trials is incredibly stingy with loot and reputation. Causing players to deem trials not worth players time. 2. Trials loot in pve for the most part is terrible. Most players are pve players so trials not having good loot is incredibly bad for the population. 3. I agree comp needs a rework 4. Flawless isn’t losing its exclusive cosmetics either there will still be flawless emblems and stat trackers for the people who actually care about them

So yes Flawless cosmetics are now acquirable for everybody. Glows STILL aren't permanent unlocks unlike in Taken King (Chroma Pariah armor) or Rise of Iron or Trials of the Nine And now we might lose the ability to change the glow type?? Enables Progress on New Stat Tracker for “Flawless Win Streak.”
There is literally nothing left besides the 1 emblem for win streaks. They've gutted Trials for the dedicated & removed the "prestige" from it. When all they had to do was make the rewards drop more often & make the loot system friendlier to casual players. Literally all they had to do. (Paired with matchmaking changes & balances) But all in all make the gamemode more appealing for casual audiences with better loot. Which they still failed at for next season.
1. The difference between trials and IB is trials you can play for hours and get squat unlike with IB you can actually earn stuff. Just less bad! not even a big difference. The rep bonus is vague + is very slow to get engrams through ranking up.
