It’s a game dude, there was never any reason to play beyond having fun.
We all had our time on the ride, and now it’s time to get off.
The sun has finally set for Destiny, and that’s okay.

I love how people make statements like Destiny is done like what they say is the end all be all ..
-
Damn, how dare a bunch of people come to the same conclusion based on the available data

The game is still healthy and when new content comes out, the numbers will go back to where they were And you know it.
-
Now who’s acting like what they say is the end all be all? You’re apparently more confident that Bungie themselves.

It’s what always happens with the game dude. This forum is just filled with people who get off to the idea of the game dying. It’s fascinating.

No, every year between expansions Bungie doesn’t always lay off 200+ employees, admit that their game is in a rough patch and is struggling to sell, openly admit that Lightfall was a mistake and describe their own game as being in a “death spiral.” The content pipeline that existed was already slim and has been further reduced, the only saving grace for the dying days of destiny is a Sony higher up will have final say on every destiny decision. It would be a mistake to assume a continuation of Destiny’s previous pattern, when Destiny is in a completely new situation. There’s no expansion coming to save it from the hole it’s in. Our clan, Raidacted, we’re active right up until a few weeks ago, all 156 of us basically decided to walk away and let the game go gracefully. You’re welcome to keep playing the game, I’m only talking from my own experience and that of those close to me. There’s plenty of dead games that are existing in their half life, and that’s okay. But to ignore the writing on the walls, and get pissy with other people just because they aren’t wilfully blind is just sad.

In all fairness most major studios sacked large groups of people across gaming. The people were needed to finish FS were held onto until a couple months after launch them let go. The issues with Bungie have always Gabe Bern upper management. People were continually promoted and had no place to go other than management’s so the salaries became absurd. Sony is restructuring Bungie not dismantling them. All of this was set it stone before FS was as released. D2 is an old game but it’s still a cash cow so it will be around at least another few years.

They cancelled other projects and re-shuffled people. That's the reason for the layoff. Everything that was still at an early conceptual phase is now gone.
