One of the most infuriating things is their wording.
We're eliminating 220 "roles".
Corporate at Bungie is deliberately dehumanizing real human beings to downplay that we should have any concern for them. Ah, don't worry about it, they're just roles, not real people.
Just call them mules better yet.
Corporate speak is some -blam!- soulless -blam!-.
One tweet was so disheartening to read.
A woman who was fired and was due to start maternity leave this coming Monday.
These people fired a pregnant woman who is getting ready to have a child.
Oh I'm sorry they just fired a "Role"
I'd probably get banned if I said what I really thought about the leadership responsible for this.

Edited by Dooodley: 8/1/2024 3:48:15 PM"Role" could be a valid term and doesnt have to equate a person at a 1:1 ratio, hence the expression. One person could for instance occupy several roles at the same time.

Edited by R-E-D-C-E-L-L: 8/1/2024 3:54:16 PMYeah because when announcing that there are hundreds of layoffs, they normally announce them as "job duties" that were lost. Strange mental gymnastics you're trying to contort that into. "Hey guys, we're sorry to say but there were EXACTLY 220 job duties we had to let go of" The hell are you on about man lol

Nah you said the right words because we all know what needs to be said, but would get silenced and banned if we truly spoke our mind. They don't want to hear it. If they did, they would've hosted town halls on discord, requesting feedback from the customer base, and not just the streamers that get paid in gifts by the company to say nice things. They've created a wall that makes us so small and insignificant, and I truly doubt they would just send out 50 random invites to a town hall, to gather feedback once a month. So many ways and opportunities they could improve. But D2 took a backseat when Marathon project started. And the only thing they patch or fix before you can blink, are the game exploits, rather than the actual bugs. That speaks volumes on what their true focus is

Thanks for this post, it says a lot that I was thinking.
