It was almost like they did a statistical analysis on any “fun” activities or meta weapons and just proceeded to suck the fun right out of all of it. Dungeons and lost sectors are a chore now. Meta weapons are meta for a brief moment and then they are not yet, it’s weighted towards the meta loadouts to complete the activities.
Somewhere in this journey PvE went from fun to tedious. PvP suffers from the lobby balancing issues that I can only imagine come from a lower player population.
I fear Sony won’t be good for the game. They’ll throw some up and coming manager/director on this in the efforts to make the game more profitable. The IP and profits will be siphoned off for bigger Sony goals.
This round of layoffs is just the beginnings unless miraculously they just blow up their revenue. I’d bet that’s why layoffs occurred; they projected larger sales numbers they didn’t achieve and poof….it’s a math equation for who they layoff and try to salvage profitability. It’s what happens when you go from an indie company over to a publicly traded giant like Sony. Each division is responsible to achieve their numbers and if they don’t….boxes come out and people get walked on a quarterly basis.
As for the CEO…they always win….most of the time. That’s a pre-negotiated settlement and golden parachute that he had prior to anything tanking. He’ll walk away richer and move on to negotiate the next company success or failure.
If Bungie doesn’t find its identity, Sony will suck it dry and discard them. Sony is a $85B in annual revenue….Bungie is $0.5B annual. The math problem doesn’t bode well for Bungie. Yoshida will take the small uptick in revenue for the year and call it a success.
A lot of what is said here is true for the player base. They turned away from the things that made the game successful and on to other things….not sure why….

At this point, I genuinely don’t feel like Sony could ruin the franchise more than Bungie already has. Just having a Big Brother telling executives to maybe, I don’t know, not take employees off your flagship title to make a bunch of IPs that haven’t provided monetary return could do wonders for this game.
PvP suffers from the lobby balancing issues that I can only imagine come from a lower player population.
I need to add on I think why people leaving from pvp matches. if u lose matches it only reward u with 2500 glimmers & 2 xur's coins (NO XENOLOGY QUEST PROGRES FOR LOSES) & if u win u get 12500 glimmers & 4 xur's coins with significantly more rank xp, some drops & xenology quest progress. from those rewards system they expect player not to leave the matches. HOW IS THAT FAIR??? on top of terrible matchmaking & awful lobby balancing. I doubt next update would improve pvp experience tbh, its more like another broken promises that sounds good on paper but still bad in reality.
