Take a look at the economy buddy. This post is tone deaf. It's not as simply as just keeping people because you like them.

It's not as simply as just keeping people because you like them.
Garbage take, has nothing to do with the economy, too many wealthy people at the top while those earning basic wages are at the bottom Gee, almost like this has always been a case throughout the ages, this is why Robinhood did what he did.. This is just the same old song, people failing upwards, getting paid big bucks for it and not being held accountable because of absolute power, that's what money gets you... Power

Do you know what inflation and a changing industry means? Garbage take my a$$.

No, but they’ve had years to reassess the “train” metaphor, pushing bite sized bits of leftovers back at us over and over. They saw the sales. They knew TFS had to excel and even forced crunch to make it as “good” as it is. Hell, they even brought streamers in and sponsored them to hype it up to make sure the game sells, only for the vast majority of players to quit in a month. That’s not how good business people run their business.

Pretending The Final Shape is a flop is funny. Critical and fan reception of The Final Shape were high and so were sales. They are still languishing from Lightfalls shortcomings and wasted resources and money on failed IP ventures and team relocation. The devs that are being let go is an unfortunate situation but that's life for you. One misstep and everything comes crashing down. No point in crying about it. Bungie isn't the only studio that had to layoff workers. Again, look around you.

Might have been a success in our books and maybe even bungies but we really have no idea what figured Sony had in mind

I STILL don't know what possessed them to sign over to Sony. They produced Beyond Light (mixed to low positive reception) and Witch Queen (highly favorable reception) on their own. All the money they then blew on HQ relocating and expanding, media expansion, and all those other failed new IP's that we'll never know about wasn't even necessary. Got to big for their britches and overly ambitious before taking care of the house.

What are britches

I honestly think them trying to make marathon was a huge money sink and I don’t think it’s going to sell well at all. House have completely doubled down on this game. Instead here we are Sony coming in and hopefully fixing it. Idk tho we can only wait and see. Not going to change me from playing the game I love at all.

Again, look around you.
Weird how it's the workers doing the grunt work being booted out (and some of which were hired by Sony on the spot)
The developer has laid off 220 people today; roughly 17% of its overall workforce. However, Sony Interactive Entertainment has picked up 155 of those roles - with the end loss being around 5% of Bungie staff once those new Sony roles are factored in. https://www.purexbox.com/news/2024/07/bungie-is-deepening-integration-with-sony-as-layoffs-hit-ex-halo-developer
but of course those at the top with power and wealth will stay where they are and nothing will change
