I just think it's funny that whenever someone brings forward a complaint here on the forums there's at least a couple of people saying "low skill", "that's a you problem" etc etc. It's apparently always a user error and/or anecdotal.
Well, seems like it perhaps wasnt all that anecdotal after all and the opinions brought forward were shared by many more - people who didnt care enough to post and just quit instead. Guess who's going to be affected now; all of us - including those who were just trying to wipe things under the rug.
Now, in Bungie's defense I'll admit that it isnt easy to constantly be bringing new and fleshed out things to the table. Hence the seasonal activities - which we inevitably will find repetitive after a while. It's a tough situation because they have to bring something but cant just deliver new big worlds every month. I honestly don't know how to solve that problem. I am pondering if adding new twists to existing features wouldnt be better in the long run and require less resources. I'm thinking new loot pools to existing destinations, perhaps some special public events and whatnot. It's one of those few occassions where "spreading thin" would actually be more interesting than forcing a couple of variations of basically the same activity down our throats.
Personally I just want the game to be easier to play. By that I'm foremost referring to getting an activity started. I'm basically repeating this in every post I post here but way too much is behind the clan/friends/LFG-wall. Dungeons, daily lost sectors, exotic missions and GM's or higher difficulty settings in general should have matchmaking. Add a disclaimer like "challenging content, results may vary" if needed. And if that doesnt happen they really need to roll back the -5 changes. It's obvious that a big chunk of the population, people who contribute to paying the bills over at Bungie HQ, will not or cannot participate in the social network needed to participate in several important/interessting activities in the game. If the content actually stayed at what it said - currently 1945 - it would however be possible for many to solo said content. And sure, some people can already do that but not everyone has the time, skill or interest for a sweat fest. Regardless, MM would be the better option.

The put -5 on everything ( even on patrols ) was sooo brain dead although its not big jump in difficulty increase but it makes encounters longer its boring for old players and its difficult for new players if someone wants challenge the the that player not gonna run -5 vanguard ops

Dooodley I agree with you, if the game was easier I would play more, but as it is, the level of difficulty has meant I really only play 2 characters and then only using my most survivable builds for each and of course I play in less and less of the content. Build and content variability has shrunk for me. It would be so simple to open up much more of the game for me by making it easier and more solo assessable. If Bungie made the exotic class item, legendary content, even a dumbed down raid more assessable I would still be playing.

Edited by Dooodley: 8/1/2024 1:13:17 AMThe keyword was contribute. I don't have the stats for how big the population is that absolutely refuses to participate in LFG but looking at the stats we do have access to, such as achivements and how time is spent in the game - across the population - I'd say that it's obvious that a lot of people spend time playing solo and dont participate in activities outside of those with MM. Others may use it once or twice just to get that one thing - but would have played the activity much more frequently, had there been MM. Hence, even if it's just 10-20 % - and I believe it's much higher than that - it will have an impact. That number is probably also increasing, as people quit and those who linger are forced to play without their normal friends. Additionally, I'm not ruling out that those who solely play solo spend less on silver. Had they been able to participate in more activities with MM they might have found it worthwhile to bling out their characters more. Lastly., it is important, for the sake of current activities, to keep the solo players somewhat happy. Solo players are needed to fill up the missing slots in PvP and whatnot.
