Initial sales were indeed strong. Fast fwd to today and 64% of those players that purchased TFS are not playing. Biggest player drop off in the history of the franchise.
Many have been waiting for Sony to start having more input into the Destiny franchise as what Bungie’s developed has proven to be unpopular with the player base.
This shift to more Sony personnel working on Destiny could potentially be the start of Destiny actually improving as a game and new content being developed that players will replay.
Or it could be signalling that Sony is going to eventually assume control of the franchise.
Time will tell.

The game is dying, acts are boring and solstice event coming is literally s repeat with ugly armor that the designer team didn’t even try with
-
That's what they get with "don't overdeliver" policy, none of the content they released is worth the price tag and mostly recycled content as "new"
-
I think destiny 3 is already a thing and this game will be going the way of destiny 1. Hardly any new content and just weekly resets. The story will probably continue in destiny 3.
-
At this point it's highly likely we won't even see Frontiers.
-
They did D1 & at least upto taken king., with 450 staff, they've 850 now but I've no clue if dev is slower/harder & destiny is already in rest mode, it's conceivable they can still do both games. Id just be worried about quality & passion.
-
There is no way they could justify that investment at this time. They would be better off launching D3 as an expansion. The D3 they would need to make to not seem like a downgrade would be 1 billion +. Look at Rockstar
-
IMO: D3 could be that unnamed action game they mentioned. I could also see it being possible that whatever that game is, comes out from Sony fully vs Bungie.
-
It’s tough to tell. They absolutely need Bungie for Destiny. They have proven to have magic there. They may just need help, a firm etc. I just don’t see D3 because of the cost. They have a GTA problem. Game has been out for so long and is so big a larger, more improved version is the only needle mover. That D3 would likely be a billion dollar game and would be the biggest game in Sonys pipeline.
-
Na that magic has run dry after witch queen least imo. Between that and the bugs that always reappear champ mod buff active but not stunning champions etc.
-
That's one way of making it ps exclusive
-
Well they did say they are pretty much handing that game over to sony along with the 155 employees, bungie should have really just made destiny their whole focus and have a smaller team develop marathon instead of trying to do a million different games at the same time
-
& this has always been the issue. Pete parsons having eyes bigger than his belly & dumping money everywhere. Old employees are currently saying he needs to step down
-
Yep hes been needing to step down for years, he has no love for the community or game, and hes just looking for quick money, and sony could totally remove him if they wanted to, but they are probably wanting to try and let bungie keep failing so they can have full creative control over bungie
-
I don't think they can until revenue hits certain lows. 375 staff is a huge loss though, quality gonna hit the floor
-
Or quite a cost saving with 375 staff being low performance staff responsible for ugly armor design and recycled content
