This line from old man Pete pissed me off more than anything else
Let’s unpack how we ended up in this position; it’s important to understand how we got here.
We already know how we got in this position, Peter.
Y’all prioritized a little extra money via your precious Eververse over a loyal and invested playerbase that has supported this franchise since its inception.
That’s how we got here.

All he has to do is unpack the books on spending, at the same time pack his bags, and his CFOs bags before sharing them. This company had around 1k employees when sold for over 3 BILLION (With a B) a little over 1.2 bil was set aside by Sony based on reports, allowing them to maintain their staff and such. And then I can only assume took notes out of the movie Brewsters Millions, and blew every last dime, in about 18 months give or take. AAA titles I'm guessing cost a couple hundred mil over the years to produce and get to market. But bungie hasn't released 5-7 AAA games. So where'd the money go? Did they follow the ol federal government steps and pay $20 per roll of toilet paper, and send majority to a slush fund or work that quick in embezzling it? They spent more money in that time, then what the largest grocery store chain Kroger, profits from all of its stores nationwide in a year. Unbelievable

It is way more than that, but is absolutely part of the issue. Catering to the top player, the elite 10% that think everything is SOO easy a monkey can do it. Has a lot to do with it as well. Too much emphasis on the right gear the right weapons the right yada, yada yada. Nothing is enough to satisfy the streamers and best players who raid 3 characters every week. Too bad they did not take the clue last expansion and fix the problem for TFS.
-
This ain't it. They got too ambitious and the industry changed while they picked a bad time to expand and start other projects and pulling talent away from Destiny teams to do so.
-
It’s not just about Destiny. He admitted they spread themselves too thin across multiple projects. Also consider the layoffs that have been happening at various game developers.
-
Spreading themselves thin is only a tiny part of it. That has nothing to do with how the game plays or making poor decisions like making Nightfall easier to run then the vangured playlist.
-
“How we got here” refers to the layoffs, not the state of D2. According to Pete Parsons, the layoffs are due to spreading themselves too thin and economic downturn. The fact he’s admitting to mismanaging the company is pretty significant.

And their wallets.

its simple. Poor business choices brought the company to this point. Sucks for the employees but, as a consumer, companies need to be responsible and this is one of those ways to do it.
-
True. It’s just a little 💩 that the people making a lot of those bad choices get to stick around so they can make more.
-
not if sony subsumes them

-
What side games?
-
matter got canned. now we have marathon
-
What side games?
They began working on a bunch of different games like marathon, project gummy bears and the well known one called Matter. No official statement on how many, just that most didn’t get far into development and were canceled.
