Would it really be worth spending money on doing that?

  • Are you asking if making one of the best pvp and pve games there is is worth adding it to a whole system and getting one more group of millions of players to join in on the fun and spending money for dlc and eververse would be worth the money

  • Yes. If they were that eager to join in on the fun they would probably buy one of the newer systems or one of the older ones from a pawn shop or play it on PC which many more PCs can do now than back when Switch came out.

  • Let’s be honest D2 isn’t as talked about as it was when it first came out promoting it on a new console will also attract new players and peak interest in the game If anything it’s a win win for Sony marketing leads to downloads downloads lead to sales sales lead to profit and even if it flops the worst that can happen is it gets removed from the switch no loss on a free to play game There is a business opportunity in it and I’m an advocate for a cloud version of D2 on switch the possibilities are just too good to pass up

  • I wonder what Excision would look like on Switch. I honestly don't know enough about what it would take to develop a cloud version of the game for an older console that is quite different from the other things the game runs on. I just don't know how developing for changes in technology while also developing for technology that's not changing would go for the game.

  • Honestly cloud games don’t use hardware they use external servers to stream so it’s not as taxing on the console that’s why fire tvs can get lumina and download destiny A -blam!- tv can play Destiny 2 with cloud gaming

Yeah, but that one company spent a lot of money on that and still of all the platforms it can kind of lag behind from what xbox players be saying.

  • True but a server ran online only game is always gonna do that regardless of the system it’s on D2 isn’t and will never be perfect If Yaoundé would open up to the possibility instead of staying in your bubble even you could see the benefit of them doing it

I'm not really in a bubble, I'm just saying I don't know enough about how all that works or what the numbers of people that play on Switch because they simply can't afford a new console look like. That's why I asked if it would be worth spending money on doing it. I don't have any idea. There's definitely no benefit for me, I do know that. This game has enough internet issues as it is and what you're talking about doesn't sound like it would reduce them in things with matchmaking. I also think its somewhat wrong to say that just because someone made the choice to spend their money on a new console that means they're "not poor." It just means that's what they chose to spend their money on. Its not a house or a car. I also think its very likely that they could make the same profit with a simple set of new armor in eververse without having to do all the cloud stuff.

  • True but they already have the cloud stuff running just gotta add that to the switch and then destiny will be available with all the same stuff as Xbox or pc without losing anything

  • If that's true that's fine. Like I said I wouldn't have any idea whether or not the fact that its cloud stuff means they could just connect that to the Switch and everything would run basically fine. I certainly wouldn't be against the game running fine on Switch if that's possible. The xbox thing costs money from what I understand, but the switch thing would basically be free? I'm just not sure how that would work and work well.

  • True but try thinking about people that don’t have a lot of money or make a lot of money going and buying a system isn’t on the table just to play a game you also have to buy another subscription to play online when you can just have the one The point isn’t just to join the fun it’s a way people with not a lot of money to waste on another system or pc can play too and also be portable without having to buy a whole steam deck for almost $400

  • Yeah but if they're that broke how are they going offset the money it takes to put it on that system? If someone has internet they probably already have a PC and developing the game for a console that's not getting any newer would basically be spending money to make the game look old. And every time something new comes out they'd have to redo it for an increasingly older console using new money that people either do or don't have. I'm not sure. You said they do and don't have it so I'm not sure. Either way it would be a pretty big gamble?

  • Well I can tell you for a fact I have internet and have never owned a Pc or the such… some people can’t go and spend 200 to 300 on consoles just up and out of no where and to get a good PC isn’t cheep…. Plus what would they have to redo or develop Destiny is already a cloud game it just needs optimized and released on switch as a cloud game they have all the files and servers to do so practically wouldn’t cost them any money at all to do what a labor fee or 2

Like I said, I'm not sure how the whole cloud thing works. Cloud infrastructures could be different or the same for all I know. There could be stratus clouds and cumulus clouds that don't really look the same and so would have to be developed for exclusively. I have no idea how all works or whether it would be worth their time. Aren't they also about to come out with a new Switch? How much longer is the old one going to be getting updates and stuff? The game and systems get updated constantly nowadays and they'd probably have to stay on top of all that to.
