Theres a link that lists every LGBT character in this franchise (except Nimbus who is 'non-binary')
Too many characters are on it especially characters from the main cast.
Destiny is supposed to be set in our future which so the percentages should be roughly the same no?
Its what 12% or so of the actual population thats LGBT? Why is Destiny 90% LGBT?
Im bisexual myself and i dont even feel represented properly because Bungie is clearly doing it to pander to an audience (the radicals who push over acceptance and call everyone bigots if they have any differing opinion) who dont even play the game or make up a very small portion of the playerbase.

"the radicals who push over acceptance" You lost all credibility as soon as you threw out the term radical.
"the radicals who push over acceptance" You lost all credibility as soon as you threw out the term radical.
I disagree they make up 4% of the population but are so very vocal.

Since we’re comparing reality What portion of the current population are blue magic people or robots?

Just read the narrative lead who did most of this, has gone today.
Just read the narrative lead who did most of this, has gone today.
Yeah, they were part of the lay offs today.

They got rid of all the people who made wisecracks on twitter too saying stuff you shouldn't say publicly. The cm who said 'why should we do trailers for seasons when everyone's already bought them lol' & the dev who said he paid helpers at conventions with rare emblems to sell on eBay, went too. Feels like they found reasons for some of them at least.

Every cloud has a silver lining. Whoever scripted Ep 1 act 1 and 2 should carry the can. The narrative was straight up 💩

I believe the same guy was a narrative lead on Final Shape, so they’re not a horrible writer when they don’t place themselves into the story.

Is that necessarily a bad thing ?
Is that necessarily a bad thing ?
In moderation, it can be good. However when you’re hired the continue writing for existing characters, you shouldn’t be changing them or adding details to them just to make them more like you. It’s especially bad when you do that to every character.
-
They did this with Dr Who & numbers hit all time lows, tanked a 60yr franchise in 2 years. The writer who Disney hired after buying the show said on twitter 'if you don't like it don't watch, we don't care'. So nobody watched

If it doesn’t detract from what the story or character is I’m not sure what the issue is.
If it doesn’t detract from what the story or character is I’m not sure what the issue is.
It quite literally changes the character and it can very well detract from the story.

Edited by draycole: 7/31/2024 6:32:24 PMHow does Osiris and st being gay detract from the story ? What about their relationship makes the game or story objectively worse ?

Edited by Bore: 7/31/2024 6:35:55 PM
How does Osiris and st being gay detract from the story ?
For them, it completely changes all lore prior to season of dawn. And it has nothing to do with them being gay, it’s them being in a relationship. And how that’s directly taking away from the other narrative, one that desperately needs more attention to. There’s a reason why people complain about their relationship and not that of Devrim and Mark.
-
It definitely doesn’t. But even if it did what about them being game makes the story or game objectively worse ?

Edited by Bore: 7/31/2024 6:44:14 PM
It definitely doesn’t. Stop trying to bring up objectiveness in a conversation about subjective topics lmao. Sorry, but when writers inject themselves into an existing character, it’s never well received.

Edited by draycole: 7/31/2024 6:41:45 PMNone of that has anything to do with them being gay. That’s just bad writing/story direction. It’d be equally as bad if st had robo breasts So again I ask What about them being gay makes the game or story worse ?

Read the answer instead of repeating the question. Even the original post quite literally mentions how them being a focus is the problem.
-
Just to remind you of the topic. I asked why it was inherently bad for lgbt writers to self insert lgbt into characters in response to your original comment. You’ve never actually answered why it is bad to self insert gay characters. You’ve referenced poor writing poor storytelling bad chemistry. Yet none of that has anything to do with them being lgbt.
-
Because the problem isn’t that they are gay (but that does disregard previous lore/writing before season of dawn… which is exactly what was mentioned in previous posts). The problem is the poor writing and wasted focus on their poorly written relationship to the detriment of the overall narrative. Nobody complains about Devrim and Mark being gay because it’s well written.

Instead of taking the opportunity to develop the first real vex antagonist, they’re spending time on a poorly written relationship between two characters that lack any chemistry. Once again, them being gay doesn’t matter. Try reading, lmao.

Why is everyone on this forum such a slimy -blam!-? Too stupid to differentiate between bad writing and a character being gay

Troll or just stupid...can't decide.
