Find it hilarious that this week kinda shut alot of people up who said the saint we have now was from either a vex simulation or different timeline. Genuinely hated the idea of the retcon of the “perfect paradox” story. Glad they finally said aloud that the saint we have is the saint that existed in the past but was just pulled through time to the future. And as for the body it technically no longer exists as that timeline is gone yet the body is archived by the Vex.

  • That seems to be the case. With the events of the week, the differences between the two don't matter anymore, if they ever did, now that Saint-14 has the memories of both. But the fact that Saint-14's death is non-existent within the timeline now, with his tomb becoming an "anomaly" archived on Nessus, all but confirms that we did pull Saint from the past, not an alternate timeline or simulation.

  • Im pretty sure they retconned it to be from another timeline and then retconned the retcon. It also wouldnt work as a perfect paradox, us saving saint in the past would stop our need to save saint, having it be an alternate timeline saint from before his death would indeed allow for such a perfect paradox. It also doesnt help that during act 1 osiris talks about how he looked at other timelines closely resembling our own to find an alive Saint near identical to our own.

  • A Saint from another timeline doesn’t make a paradox, it’s just swapping the dead one for a literal alternate. His paradox started when he was Young, as without our intervention he would have died then and never become a hero or worth the effort by Osiris to save. That intervention only happened because Older Dead Saint, someone he wouldn’t have become to begin with because he would have died when he was Young. The genesis of the Paradox starts when he is Younger and the shotgun is the key to making it “perfect”.

  • The Conductor was the one who threw everything into question in the first place, I'll remind you. The original Saint-14 was dead. We found his tomb in the Infinite Forest, and what is what happened in the original timeline. Then the Sundial was used to find the point in time right before Saint-14 was killed and successfully saved him from his death. After that happened, his death no longer exists in the timeline, but the Vex have the original moment archived on Nessus, potentially along with other simulations of timelines that used to exist before that moment was changed. For instance, Maya claimed that Sagira would still be alive in the timeline where Saint remained dead. It is possible Maya Sundaresh's evidence for Saint-14 being a "copy of a copy of a copy" was based on archived simulations she found in Nessus. She saw the archived simulations of what the timeline would have looked like had Saint-14 not been pulled out of time and used that against him. The wording did complicate things, I will admit. But this week describing Saint-14's death as no longer existing in the timeline confirms there were no branching timelines involved or Vex simulations - the past was changed. P.S. Nessus being used to store "defunct data" makes me wonder what other forms of "defunct data" exist. The Vex are described as non-linear, so imagine if they have archives of Elsie's "dark futures" stored elsewhere in the Vex Network.

They kept the same story going through but have terrible writers

  • I guess you can say they indirectly retconned it then only to fix it afterwards.

They just have bad writers who clearly write each weeks story. Like Team A then Team B swap in and out Its the only thing that explains disjointed story telling week to week
