Is there a way to bring the chat into the app for console players?
It takes forever to select each character from the on display keyboard with a controller, especially while you’re in matches, so it’s not worth using.
Out with my clan (not always on at same time), there are points need to play solo) I’m unable to communicate with my team members as not a lot actually use voice chat.
Those that do, generally, when they hear I’m a female can be outright awful, so keeping to text would be better.
Buying an add on for my PlayStation isn’t an option and don’t think it is for many.
Making a chat section in the app, that links to your current activities etc would be so useful and better, I think.
Edit**
A usb keyboard isn’t an option for where my ps5 is in relation to where the sitting section is in the living room and so assume for many this would also be the same, unless they sit close by their T.V?
As above, I really don’t want to have to buy anything else to use a chat function… not with the amount of stuff already floating about with young kids -my OCD is barely managing with that 😅. This is feedback for Bungie as something to consider.

This might be a necro bump but u can get mini keyboards for controllers i use one for xbox. Tho the hand feel might get ya.

Agreed. They don’t even make it easy to bring up the chat window during content. You can do it in orbit. But I haven’t figured out how to do it mid game (unless I’m playing with someone on PC and they message me first, then I can respond.)

Wireless KBs work too…

1 ReplyArteck HB030B wireless Bluetooth keyboard is 30% at Amazon right now, about $20. Small and slim but large enough to actually type on, illuminated keys, and the battery lasts forever.

On ps5 you just plug in a keyboard lol

While you’re waiting on Bungie never adding the functionality you want to the app you could consider something like the Numskull mini bluetooth keyboard. Moko and other brands make similar items. They’re not expensive (£20/$25), they plug into the audio jack on the bottom of the ps5 controller so shouldn’t get lost/take up space etc.. I’m not saying they’re great, but they might just help you with what you’re looking for.

2 RepliesHi, You’re best finding a female only group. There are some great clans out there, this way when you join chat channel with your clan you won’t get annoying chats. Destiny does have a chat feature built in, just turn it on in the settings. You can type to your fireteam or to the clan you’re in for all members online who have the feature turned on. Plenty of videos online to show you if stuck. Alternatively try Discord. Plenty of great groups out there! Good luck, see you out there guardian.

Yeah Console chat really isnt an option. Can use Discord. Many Clans have their own Discord channel too. Bit sad if players want to treat you differently just because female but unfortunately there's a small but sizeable proportion who are toxic idiots or up their own ******es for any and no reason too. -

if im understanding this, u want to use text chat but w/out the slowness of thumbstick input buy a keyboard thats compatible with a ps usb port, i had the same exact issue when i was on console when i felt uncomfortable in difficult groups idk if thats what u mean but gl! -
When it comes to the chat bubble I personally don't use it. I will only use it to get check points. Prefer voice chat if I need to communicate.
