There is no doubt that Destiny 2 is a stunningly gorgeous game with arguably the best weapons, movement and gunplay in the entire gaming industry, it’s just a shame that Bungie locked most of their player base out from ever being able to enjoy a huge chunk of it.
Here are a few examples of what I mean:
They made a RAID so difficult that most people don’t even want to attempt it. And the top players that do (which is an extremely small percentage of the player base), once they’ve gotten all their desired loot, won’t ever do it again. So who is this RAID for? Most people will never see the inside of it to enjoy all the hard work that Bungie must have put into it. What a waste.
Then you have the Exotic Class Items being locked behind a two person activity. Yet again Bungie failing to understand how most people play video games these days. I’m sure it’s an awesome experience and well thought out mission, but most people prefer to game alone. No matter how much developers try to force socialization, (with the exception of full time gamers), most of us have mismatched schedules, full time jobs and other responsibilities, so we just want to hop on and play alone whenever we can. We don’t want to have to look for someone to do activities with. Getting Exotic Armor through Legendary Lost Sectors was the perfect solution and for the life of me, I cannot understand the stupid decision to move away from that.
Which brings me to my next point, Bungie decided to take away any incentive for a solo player to just hop on and play. Most of our Pinnacle Gear is locked behind group activities like Dungeons and Raids. So as a solo player (which bares drilling into Bungie’s thick headed skulls IS HOW MOST PEOPLE PREFER OR ONLY HAVE TIME TO PLAY), there isn’t much to do. And NO ONE wants to keep doing activities like Overthrow ad nauseam. It was interesting the first few times, but after the 50th time, no thanks. So when we log on, what is there to look forward to? Nothing really. Everything just feels like a boring slog fest with no benefit. No Exotic Armor, can’t level up your power, there is really no longer any reason to log onto to Destiny 2 at all.
Which brings me to my finally point. Destiny 2 is supposed to be a “looter shooter” yet everything is so heavily RNG weighted (which I will never understand, because I will always believe it’s pure BS). Random to me means exactly that. Things are randomized. It doesn’t mean that some accounts get everything just handed to them, while other accounts suffer NEVER getting anything awarded to them. Randomization means ALL accounts should get lucky. After all, this isn’t a Powerball jackpot where Bungie has to give out Billions of dollars. Exotic weapons and armor should have a way better chance to drop for ALL players, not just a slim margined lucky few (that I’m still convinced are pre-chosen). But I digress, Destiny 2 is a “looter shooter” that is exceptionally stingy with loot. Further giving us even less incentive to play. And even if the game did give us all the loot we desired, there is no place to put it all. Vault space continues to be a major problem. IMO, all this looks like a bleak future for the franchise going forward. Many of you can disagree with me, but the huge player drop off after the Final Shape doesn’t lie. The very few people with a RAID completion doesn’t lie. The very few people I see with Exotic Class Items doesn’t lie. I’m saddened when I see this as for more than 10 years D2 has been my absolute favorite game. Even when most players dropped off during dry spells, I was still playing because there was always something to grind for as a solo player. But with the Final Shape, Bungie has ended even that small glimmer of excitement and I don’t know who this game is meant for or what it’s trying to achieve anymore.

A Destiny raid shouldn't take you more than an hour once you've learned it, and 2-3 while you're learning it. Crota and DSC shouldn't last much more than 30 minutes. And most people who get all the stuff they want from them will stop doing them. There's no point otherwise. I got Eyes of Tomorrow on my 6th completion and Conditional Finality on my 4th completion. Took me 35 completions to get the Vex and 50+ to get Touch. RNG is RNG, regardless of how jilted you feel about it. If you don't see a point in playing, stop playing.

2 Repliesbungie made the game as bad if not worse than when they sunset everything. destiny youtubers loved that decision too. now they’re all starting to abandon ship

1 ReplyYou said everything i want to say, especially that annoying dual destiny mission, hope Sony finally takes over this pathetic and mercenary corrupt company.
-
The Dual Destiny mission for the Exotic class item is very well done. Kudos to Bungie for that.
-
I’m not crazy about the Breach activity and I hate the Splicer season activity. Bored with the story but at least it’s not Eido. Co-op missions and Dual Destiny aren’t for me.I expect there will be similar “communication” missions in the future.

im just tired of the loot being -blam!-, the new raid exotic is good no doubt, perhaps better than most, but what a time to introduce this thing when any class could use still hunt more effectively, IMO there should be good loot in easy and hard activities, but you'd think still hunt wouldn't be as good, or (i forgot the name) the raid exotic would be better in a way, but it seems forgotten.

Meet friends after work to catch a game and some food, meet friends after work to run a dual destiny... same-same no?

Some good points. I don’t mind the class item mission I thought it was actually pretty epic. The raid though… ergh need to watch a tutorial for like an hour just to get started… way overloaded with mechanics

12 RepliesJFC. Bungie didn't lock anyone out of anything. They do it to themselves and then throw themselves on the ground and blame Bungo. -Raids aren't that difficult. Those people are just scared. The only one that's remotely difficult (off contest) is Salvation's Edge, and that's becuase you actually have to have people doing things and can't stick your window-licker on add clear. -Exotic class item being behind a two person activity is both on purpose and not a problem. It's a fairly easy mission, which you only have to do ONE time per character and then you can farm solo from other activites. It's a social game. Idk what else they need to do to make that apparent. It's an MMO, not a single player RPG, and although you can play much of the game like it is one, it's not. -All looter shooters are heavily weighted in RNG. Borderlands, the franchise that popularized this genre heavily, also uses RNG to drop loot. You give the game away with some of your comments, like thinking people who get exotic drops are pre-chosen lmao. Find a game you actually enjoy and play that, because a lot of the things you admonish have been around since D1. It's just Destiny.

Lols i am pretty sure every one who complains about this raid being hard is the same person who only does add clears, its not hard it just does not let people get away with not knowing what to do. I am by no means a top player but cleared this raid 18 times all through lfgs or random groups i found on discord. People just need to know their -blam!-.
Randomization means ALL accounts should get lucky.
That isn’t what that means…

4 RepliesDestiny 2 wasn't supposed to be a "looter shooter" - that was a design change that was forced by the players. The nonstop whining from players about their loot rolls since Forsaken has just been pathetic. The game also has crafting now yet somehow you still find something to complain about with your loot rolls. Also, pinnacles don't matter so why are you so upset by them? Just level up your artifact. As you repeatedly said, you are mainly a solo-player - so what solo content are you struggling with that you need to be at level cap? "Getting Exotic Armor through Legendary Lost Sectors was the perfect solution and for the life of me, I cannot understand the stupid decision to move away from that." Change was made because players whined about it nonstop. Every decision you don't like that Bungie has made was in response to something some players cried about. If you don't like Destiny 2 in its current state, stop playing it. There are plenty of other games out there to play.

6 RepliesSolo Pinnacles: - Seasonal Activities (x3) - Nightfall - Hawthorne - Exotic Rotation - Ritual Pathfinder (x3) Solo with LFG (no talking): - Coop Mission Group Pinnacles: - Dungeon (x3) - Dungeon Rotation - Raid (x5) - Raid Rotation So as you see it's 50/50. Half of them is for Solo players and the other half for people using multiplayer.

This tread is going wild.. But yeah, there are definitly issues with the current state of the game

37 RepliesOh wow, another solo player complaining in the forums Y’all either need to find some people to play with or decide if the game is worth playing for your mental health. Coming to the forums complaining all the time does nothing You either find people to play with and enjoy the game more, or find something that doesn’t frustrate you. It’s really super simple

6 Replies1. The raid. I won't be running it. I could...but I choose not to. Every encounter mechanic three times is not fun. But the big thing, I'm not dealing with the hassle of trying to find a 'newbie friendly' fireteam. Just ain't worth it. The elites can have it.....I'll pass. 2. Exotic class item. This is sooo counterproductive to fun. I need a ton of rolls and when I think about logging in....I just flat out don't want to farm them anymore. So, it's a few quickplay matches and maybe a few seasonal runs, then log out. I should be farming class items, but I can't, it's just way too boring and it's an incentive to not even log in. My game time is probably down 80-90%. 3. I don't care about pinnacles...all i want is loot that is worth keeping. 4. The loot. Bottom line, 99% of all drops are trash. Seriously...it's so bad. I wish some of the vendors at least had a chance to drop something decent. But a lot of vendors (Ada, Shaxx, Rahool, Banshee, etc) you can pretty much guarantee that you'll be dismantling the loot. Why even bother? Just make it glimmer and call it a wrap. Why soooooo much trash loot????

Well thought out essay of points. Raids are, according to Bungie, something players "aspire" to play, but they actually don't do that much. Its less than 15% that have done even one. Why they pour so, so many resources into a small minority activity is bewildering and a waste. The opportunity cost is staggering: imagine the mountain of content for everyone that could be done for the entire game with all that development cost. As far as difficulty. You could literally clip here quote after lengthy quote of streamer-promoters who BEGGED and then DEMANDED the Raid being the hardest ever. Aztecross comes to mind who did this EXTENSIVELY but he's not the only one. According to True Vanguard his guides did very well for him, so you can see the logic and the payoff for them. Now this will stand as a complete waste of money with effectively almost no-one seeing this expensive content. What a complete predictable waste. For me the Legendary Campaign was the perfect opportunity to award the Exotic Class item - for all 3 Classes. Failing that a LLS completion. Dual Destiny should have been a mutiplayer matchmade activity, not requiring mics - which no one ( or few at best) likes. With Vault space as it is, at this old age of the game, the exotic Class items should ABSOLUTELY have been craftable. No doubt about that. I really don't think they know and certainly havent even acknowledged what a water-shed moment this is being forced on for soloplayers. These items are important enough to push most into a "do or die" decision. And because no matchmaking, no soloplaying, and mic required content is incredibly unpopular, previously only existing in Raids, that's turning into an "OK Bungie, die then" decision made. Its happening to be somewhat easier because of the strength of the competition, whether Elden Ring, The First Descendant (in my case), or others. There you can choose between soloplaying and matchmaking MP freely. Can you guys afford to completely alienate and lose soloplayers/matchmaking MPers? Seems you think you can. The Episodes arent cutting it. The unrelenting excess of the retconned LGBT story is staggering. I dont think they learned the lessons of LightFall at all and I think another 10% of their workforce are going to pay the price yet again for some of the above. -
just do what i did, uninstall the game and not play it. way better for your mental health. also occasionally go back to the forums to see the suffering of the people who still plays.

19 RepliesEdited by R-E-D-C-E-L-L: 7/30/2024 2:13:29 AMI do think it's weird how all the well known streamers very suspiciously always get the raid weapon so they can make YouTube videos about them. Yet half of everyone else runs stuff 30 times and still can't get the drop
-
Spot on & I totally agree with all your comments - I was a heavy D1 player & raider but now am a lone wolf and even watching a 'how to' UTube of any raid activity just turns me off and I don't remember D1 being that mechanic heavy but was full of laughs & fun - not fun anymore. Too many non-solo activities which I have tried but only after a few minutes decided not for me a backed out after a non-revived death on my part.

4 RepliesNah it's cooked my man. TFS was it swan song. They clearly fired the wrong ppl a bit ago, now they only have horrible developers work on the game just so they have some cash flowing for thier next game. Meanwhile, Marathon is getting Bungie's triple AAA developers working on it so once it comes out and this cycle of season comes out, they can just keep this game on life support for the prodigal child. But at least dmg is back, so that's a plus. I would rehire him too if my game was publicly seen as a pr nightmare. Enjoy the scene while this game is sinking to its underwater grave. Acceptance is better than fighting it. Maybe we should have just let The Witness win. They were speaking facts.

52 RepliesThe raid definitely should have been more casual friendly…. Less mechanics and more action… mechanics are so boring

Yeah... I just don't understand how some of these co-op mechanics are supposed to be fun. I think it works in raiding (though I am also not doing Salvation's Edge anytime soon), but I really didn't like having to go get teammates for the Microcosm quests. It just makes it a hassle. Having to bust out the keyboard, or get on comms. All so I can enjoy a thrilling mechanic like shooting two switches at the same time. Ain't no way I'm doing that every week. I just don't get the appeal. Are people really out here saying, "yeah the campaign was good, but when I had to have my teammates tell me which symbols to pick up? Bro that was peak gaming!" -
4 RepliesI agree with everything here. It's like they wanted to nail in the coffin this game.
-
20 RepliesBiggest player drop off in the history of the franchise. 64% of players who purchased TFS expansion are no longer playing. I was shocked when I heard that number.
