I mean, technically, the ghost told us to channel our light through it so it was more a team effort rather than just 1 or the other doing all of it

Edited by Ferus Lux: 7/27/2024 6:28:08 PMOkay so cayde tells us the Traveler, Ghosts and Guardians are all connected. The Traveler on its own can't use the more destructive forms of light. It's terraforming beam can indirectly mess things up but that's about it. Ghosts transfer light to us and the light manifests in us as Arc, Solar, and Void. Since Ghost is the conduit, he achieved a perfect harmony, drew light from us and the Traveler and sent it into the Witness. A beam to unmake the Witness. It was like Goku's spirit beam. We fed Ghost our power but we got it from Ghost in the first place. Light is all about giving and the power that comes from being connected. So while we did channel into Ghost, only he could've converted it into that attack. Something not even the Traveler could do on its own when the Witness first attacked.

Light isn’t about giving or being connected. Ask the Warlords. It’s neutral like Darkness. Ghosts connect us to Light of the Traveler, not the Ghost’s own Light, so our power is our own. They don’t hold or store it, it is literally inside of us. That’s why we see Hive rituals involving literally ripping it out. It grows inside of us as we do things that feed it, when used it depletes but comes back in full. Ghosts have their own Spark of Light inside their orb. It’s their soul, where their personality comes from. Look back when we made the attack, you’ll see the buff Surging Light was active when standing on that plateau. We were being actively empowered in that space. The Traveler needed someone to wield their Light as a weapon, as it could not. We were the person to wield it, the Ghost was the secret weapon to focus it through. Sort of implies the Traveler knew what it was doing when it made the Ghosts.
