Hello there,
The in-game message is misleading. A name reset to default like that means it was reported, reviewed by Bungie and reset to"Guardian####", that indicates that some part of the name broke the Code of Conduct or the Bungie Name Policy, was filtered, and can no longer be used. When that happens, you get the new name cross play message in-game as notice of the name change.
You can try a different name if you have not previously changed it. If the system is not allowing more changes, there is no way to override it.

lol it seems the person or people in charge of this are not doing their job correctly

You're right. They are working way too slow. There should be way more people with default Guardian#### names running around.

Yeah, you are full of Bravo Sierra.

Hello, thanks for taking the time to answer. However, I absolutely cannot understand what is there about the words "Fresh" and "Hummel" (which is what Hummel means in German. You can google it if you don't believe me.) or a combination of them that can be considered offensive, hateful, disrespectful or anything like that. Is it an insult in English to call yourself or someone Hummel or Bumlebee? If this is the case, I am very sorry. Unfortunately, my English skills are not good enough to guess something like that. Yes, I could change my name one more time, but how am I supposed to know whether it won't just be renamed to "Guardian####" again when I don't even know why my old name "FreshHummel" suddenly violates some rule and no one can even tell me what is so offensive about the name that it has to be changed. So that basically means that if I personally don't like a name, all I have to do is report it and the player will automatically be renamed Guardian? Interesting. Well then, get ready for a game where everyone is called "Guardian####". That is just ridiculous. Looks like I'll have to walk around like a convict with his number on now. I don't like that, but what can I do if Bungie doesn't like Bumblebees.

I had the same after having the name for a while today. My name was Nino Brown. Not offensive in the slightest and does NOT break TOS

Bungie does not currently have an appeal or explanation process. Your previous name was found to have been against some portion of the code of conduct or name policy which was why it was moderated.
So that basically means that if I personally don't like a name, all I have to do is report it and the player will automatically be renamed Guardian?
While you can report any name you find offensive, Bungie staff would have to agree with your report for action to be taken.
I don't like that, but what can I do if Bungie doesn't like Bumblebees.
You are welcome to choose another name, keep in mind that while you may mean for a name to use a certain definition, there are many other possible definitions and languages that are considered when Bungie reviews them.

Thank you very much for the quick reply. I found out from someone else's reply what it could mean. I'm sorry I read the message too late. I never thought that something as innocent as bumblebee could have a completely perverted meaning. I'm sorry to have wasted your time. Thank you for your time and have a nice day.
