The psions are technically an enslaved faction that gained citizenship in the cabal empire, and there's a faction that, put very briefly, wants to return to "traditional psion culture" which is also political propaganda.
So long story short, like the cabal, the eliksni, and (kinda) the hive, there are factions trying to gain power that don't really like us amongst the psions.
The dead messenger mission has a lot of the lore and diologue for it. Plus sundial lore.

Edited by Zodleon: 7/23/2024 6:00:04 AMso house light is a separated faction of the eliksni led by misthrax Kell. Basically, they were tired of the brutal life of effectively being pirates and split off of Eramis kell of house salvation. So they broke away and got asylum with us, and are becoming part of our society. There are social tensions there because we've been at war for so long, but they aren't our enemies, and they want to integrate and go back to their previous peace of their home. House salvation is kind of at a stalemate with us right now, but we aren't really friends with them, they blame us and the traveler for their current state. The cabal are our allies, and the psions who agree with them are also allies with us. There is another faction of psions that see us as an obstacle and ultimately wants to break away from the cabal, this group of psions are the ones that tried to kill zavala, crash the almighty, and the dead messenger mussion. Tldr: The imperial cabal, including psions and house light, are our allies.

Edited by Guardian,Archon Of Light: 7/23/2024 6:41:14 AMMiisrax defected to Humanity long before House Salvation existed, because in the adventure "Enemy of My Enemy" , he was on Titan procuring Human tech for Spider(Rakis), and our paths collided , and he trolled us for an entire mission , but the canon ending is we saved him from the knight. From that Moment he realized the only way Eliksni survive is peace with Humanity , making him a pariah at that time, but more and more are also seeing MiisraxKell's example, like Naamrask , who was responsible for the torching of London, changed his name and became a pacifist , and has we saw in the Final Shape ending, we are not only allies, we are family, And life in House Salvation wasn't brutal, Variks helped Eramis build it and gave legitimacy to her new house, it was a home away from glory hunting guardians and Hive and Taken , untill Eramis found the darkness splinters, and started talking war , what those in House Salvation was trying to escape from, that's why Variks betrayed her and contacted us , it was the best course of action for the people that trusted him I could talk about Eliskni lore for hours , if D2 was an RPG, I would choose to pledge to House Light has my faction(Hence my Bungie Name)

Edited by Zodleon: 7/23/2024 6:59:48 AMMy comment is a very general overview, I prefer to answer specific questions and direct them to lore entries as trying to quote them in forum format is not optimal, and balloons rapidly. And the brutal life comment as I said was about being part of the crews, which there are supporting lore entries from both misthrax and eramis along with other miscellaneous lore entries. And a lot of eliksni were tired of that life. A lot of eliksni joined eramis, expecting a calmer environment, a sanctuary but that wasn't exactly what they got because eramis couldn't let her vendetta against the traveler go. My lore expertise is more towards the cabal and hive. I've got the shadow title for lore reasons.

Edited by Guardian,Archon Of Light: 7/23/2024 7:23:05 AMYeah, Eramis had peaceful intentions, remember Variks doesn't help anyone But the Splinters(or the witness) turbo charged her obsessions she had buried and made them explode Eramis actually hates the witness more than Humanity , they used her freinds to make Scorn Abominations, that's why she checked out and went back to Riis, and The Witness proved to be a false cause , so it could be interesting what the remaining Salvation members do We will probably learn more in Episode 2
