Patrols are pretty boring. Nothing to there but shoot enemies incapable of fighting back. They need elected difficulties.

I actually like the low pressure and casual patrols, but I agree. Let those who want more of a challenge enter a destination with significantly increased difficulty, but not at the expense of those who enjoy a casual, ‘use what gear you want’ destination area. Options are always nice. I don’t have much hope for Bungie to do anything like this, considering how they pretty much ignore destinations and their loot.

It’s honestly strange they haven’t applied it to patrols yet. Patrols could also use more things to do in them as well. World bosses, timed challenges, hidden quests, etc.

Patrols were far better in D1, when you had multiple events happening in an area. I still remember a Guardian Games event that would occur at the same time as a public event. And there was that huge boss that would show up in most patrol areas. Having that boss show up at the same time as the Fallen Walker was a blast.
