Is being in a clan worth it nowadays?

As someone who’s been a Destiny player for a long time and went from clan to clan over that span of time, I’m just not really sure anymore. I’ve seen many accounts of people finding groups and clans, making friends and overall having a great experience with it, and it leaves me confused. I’ve NEVER had any kind of experience of that nature, EVER. All I’ve felt is the vitriol towards players like myself from the developers and the playerbase for us not already having friends to play with or refusing to use lfg for reasons that the community proves themselves. And as somebody with ASD, negative social experiences have a more profound effect on me than other individuals may have. For example, when the Cooperative-Focused missions and Dual Destiny were made available, the community sentiment towards solo players was quite harsh, simply because we didn’t like the fact that communicating with unknown players was a forced requirement to complete those activities, even though things like lfg are filled to the brim with the very reasons we remain as solo players. All of that proved this to me: Destiny is good to play with friends, and HORRIBLE for making friends. With clans being one of this game’s primary methods of meeting and playing with new people, I don’t know if it’s worth rolling those dice once more and risking getting burnt again… (Sidenote: Not posting this in the main forums. I already know the kind of response this would get from there.)

The fact that its July 24 and ppl are STILL clan searching, tells you everything.

  • Guardians Defense Force1 [GDF1] is a new clan, recruiting active Players! [All Platforms |Endgame PVE & PVP] Why choose this Clan??: A clan must provide a good social space to find Guardians to play with and become friends [most clans here promise you everything in the beginning yet experience shows their fails as they either WANT YOUR for micro-transactions $$$ or your gameplay XP]. Guardian, we need people who are sick of many Destiny Clan's lack of unity? Read on.. I am a Destiny Veteran Guardian since D1. I have belonged from mega to small clans over the years and am TIRED of the BS of not having daily people to play with, clan friends clicks [who won't play with other clan members], Drama, etc. And thus, I have created a new clan, Guardians Defense Force1 [GDF1]. This clan will function as a family, meaning we treat each individual member with respect, not just a spot in a roster. We want YOU to grow with us and become comfortable around each other and be part of clan our family. I've built for our clan a banging Discord server which has a ton of great stuff to enjoy plus notifications like Vex Strike Force, Checkpoint bot, Vendor updates, many great bots to help our clan plus an Other Co-op games section for games like Helldivers, The Division 2, The First Descendant, etc. Once you are in our clan, a Discord invite will be sent. Starting a new clan takes time to grow so please stick in there until our members increase! I don't care about quantity of members but the QUALITY of the people in it who want to build a great clan with us and make it their own! For PVE players we can schedule activities to accommodate your schedule, weekly scheduled raid runs from new and existing raids. For PvP members wanting to improve, or highly skilled. Once our clan grows, we can assign Sherpa's and more admins for their skills to ensure if anyone needs help it will happen. Please click on the clan link below to ask for an invite: https://www.bungie.net/7/en/Clan/Profile/5279530 If you wish to join, upvote this post, request to join the above link. If accepted into the clan, you will a receive a DM from VuDooEyes#5704. I will follow up with an invite to our discord and welcome you to our community! Hope to meeting you soon! Requirements: •30 years or older preferred [new Guardians will be considered] - we need to grow with you as we grow this clan. Stick in there, make this your home and have a voice in the clan!!!! •Be active in game and our Discord [mic is required for fireteam activities e.g. Raids, etc]. (People have lives, family, work, etc. and understand life happens and people take breaks. Communication is key if you can't play the game. •No toxic behavior or drama is allowed - read the Discord welcome areas once in the clan.

You should know, this post is in the main forum. That said, it really depends on you and what sort of clan you're looking for. Are you looking for a small close-knit clan or a mega-clan? Are you looking for one that is primarily PvP or PvE? Are you looking of one that uses Discord for communication? Endgame or teaching? Specific platform or cross-play? Edit: Something else I just thought of to consider is the region you're in, making it easier to find players that'll be logged in around the same time you are. Do you have any ideas on what kind of clan you'd like to be a member of?
