Expecting compensation for server issues is just weird tbh.
Is it nice? Sure. Should it ever be expected? No, of course not.
Is it nice? Sure. Should it ever be expected? No, of course not.
It definitely should because it is a base rule that you should treat others as you want to be treated. Bungie screwing up their game or maintenance schedule? Yeah, I will hate on them for that. Bungie making the game good and keeping their maintenance schedule down to the minute? Yeah, I will praise them for that. If Bungie wants to run a -blam!- game performance with their servers but have good community standing, they definitely should do compensations in ingame items/currency because that's the easiest way that doesn't affect them negatively. We aren't even speaking about money or silver. Even 3 Ascendant shards for bad maintenance would be good enough.

Treating others as you want to be treated is adorable, but completely inapplicable to server down time lmao. It's wild the level of petulant entitlement people get from not being able to play a game for an extra hour longer lol.
Treating others as you want to be treated is adorable, but completely inapplicable to server down time lmao.
It is absolutely applicable. Or why do you think Airports, Shuttle Services and Train Services have such compensations in place? Or why literally every product (at least in EU territory) has some form of warranty tied to it? Because bad product experiences don't sell well. Let's say for example, Bungie would do a hotfix that breaks the game for 6 weeks straight and you can't play it in those 6 weeks. Would you just say "aight, imma go play something else instead til they fix it" or would you say that you want compensation for the fact you can't play a game you paid for (in DLCs)? It doesn't matter if it is 1-2h more maintenance than announced beforehand or a 6 weeks full blackout of the game. In both cases it makes sense to compensate the player to present yourself (the company) as a caring instance. Because a good reputation will earn you more than a bad one. That's no rocket science, that's simple logic. Ask yourself, if you would get (as I said) 3 Ascendant shards for free every time we have extensions of server maintenance with this game, would you say "that's bullshit, I don't want to get stuff for free" or would you say "that's nice of them"?

Airports don't compensate you for a delayed flight lmao. They compensate you if you bought a ticket and they overbooked a flight. That is not a 1:1 comparison. Comparing an extra hour or two of server maintenance to SIX WEEKS of continuous downtime is just stupid. As for getting free things, again, it would be nice, but I wouldn't expect it, and nobody should. That was quite literally my take already lmao. From my unedited first comment: "Is it nice? Sure. Should it ever be expected? No, of course not." You're right about one thing. It's not rocket science, and it's very simple. EXPECTING compensation for server maintenance downtime, especially when it's limited to HOURS, is just incredibly childish.
Airports don't compensate you for a delayed flight lmao. They compensate you if you bought a ticket and they overbooked a flight. That is not a 1:1 comparison.
Yeah, idk what Airlines you use but in most of the EU you get at least a ticket for a different flight or your money back if the specific flights plane is (for whatever reason) unable to take-off.
Comparing an extra hour or two of server maintenance to SIX WEEKS of continuous downtime is just stupid.
Not really. Because these days we have regularly maintenance going longer than it should with this game. In summary, we average on 5-6 hours minimum in a month. In a year that' s 3 days in total roughly.
As for getting free things, again, it would be nice, but I wouldn't expect it, and nobody should. That was quite literally my take already lmao. From my unedited first comment: "Is it nice?
EXPECTING compensation for server maintenance downtime, especially when it's limited to HOURS, is just incredibly childish.
Or maybe you are just so stuck in your shilling of bad companies, that you forgot what actual good customer treatment is?

Edited by Duke: 7/5/2024 1:44:20 PMUnable to take off is not DELAYED which is what I said. Please pay attention. This game has never just been flatly unable to run for any length of time. It's had maintenance issues, which is a delay, not a flat cancellation of service (or a flight in the hypothetical). 3 days in one year still isn't comparable to six weeks of continuous downtime. Being rewarded for server down time isn't "default decency." That's a very weird entitlement you've completely made up lol. I'm not shilling for anyone. You just have a bad point and are exceedingly bad at defending it. I think working to get the game back online is actual good* customer treatment, or customer service as normal human being know it, lmao. Edit: good*

Having no compensation for the exact announced maintenance time beforehand (say, maintenance from 5-7pm PDT) is totally fine. But if it takes suddenly 2 hours longer, it is totally fair in my eyes to ask or even expect from a decent company to apologize for not keeping their own schedule. It's not a bad point I make. You just have different ideals and views. That's fine, I don't have to convince you. Just be aware there are people like me, that at some point don't let companies get away with constant bullshit. I've been playing this game and its first game before for the last 10 years. I am fed up with Bungie pulling their bullshit on us. At some point, you will too.

Sweetheart, you don't have the mental faculties to condescend to me. Please stop trying. It's getting sad lmao. It is absolutely fair to ask for anything. It's very stupid to expect it, which is, and has been, my point. The fact that you think you are part of some benevolent group of inumerable people fighting back against the power that is these companies and their "constant bullshit" is adorable. Even more pathetic is you lumping in a couple hours of unexpected downtime as part of this "constant bullshit" like it's them oppressing you or something. There are plenty of things Bungie does, and has done, that annoyed me to varying degrees. Taking two extra hours to make sure the game functions better than it did before the maintenance has never, and will never, be one of those things. Now please, either find a better insult, or find a better argument, because nobody with more than two brain cells to rub together is going to read any of this and think IM the simpleton when you're standing there with your hand out after server maintenance lmao.
