Dear Bungie,
When dual destiny was released, there was a bug that allowed people to get two exotic class items per run.
This led to an average time to class item of 1 per 10-15 minutes. (i.e. 2 class items every 20-30 minutes).
However, with the glitch patched, the efficiency is 1 per 25-30 minutes.
This has killed dual destiny as a source of farming exotic class items.
The alternative farming source is just opening chests in the landing, which has an average efficiency of 1 class item per 15 minutes, the same as dual destiny prior to the patch, see source video. Thus, there is no reason to run dual destiny as you get class items twice as slowly as mindlessly opening chests in the landing.
Given the RNG on the rolls (1/64 of getting any particular roll) with no bad luck protection, I think it would be important to revert the changes to dual destiny, I think getting 1 drop per 15 minute is more reasonable than 1 drop per 30 minutes as it currently is with no bad luck protection.

You shouldn't complain? It's the greatest mission ever You should thank Bungie for giving you a reason to spend more time solving clock puzzles
-
Folks love that mission though...🤔 Surely they run it twice for one drop?

Stfu u guys were trashing the solo players and stuff and when it gets patched now u guys are crying
-
When you guys gonna learn? It wasn’t a glitch. It was FOMO. Now that the honeymoon haze is over, get back to grinding digital slave!

3 RepliesThey could legit just make them focusable at rahool or a random drop from exotic engrams once unlocked.
-
1 ReplyIt seems fine to me. A question of perception of course. For me, the game is going to be out for a "while", so there's no rush to get the perfect rolls immediately.
-
5 RepliesDoesn't the new pale heart activity drop one after you kill a wizard. I was completing those like in 9 minutes and then killing the wizard on my own and then you get like one so like you could probably do like a faster just doing activity in the palenheart 10-12 minute runs

1 ReplyWow. Seriously the whining is completely unjustified. For as powerful as the class item *can* be, it's farming method may not be exceptionally efficient, but it IS insanely easy. Getting 1 guaranteed every 25 minutes or so is actually surprisingly fast and generous all things considered. I feel like this is a symptom of dying attention spans...

Bungie in response: We heard and you and now we are nerfing the odds to get exotic class item from the pale heart chests -
I find it amusing that Bungie's way of giving something farmable with a 100% drop chance takes longer than just mindlessly running around opening chests. This bug would've made the farming worth it but after checking the ingame LFG after the fix, only saw 3 posts when before I saw 10+. Could be that the first few runs give 2 class item drops for the week. Though this is coming from a solo player who spent 3 weeks getting a specific roll after running it twice on Titan and farming chests as much as possible.
-
3 possible outcomes: 1. Bungie does nothing and mindlessly running circles in a patrol zone remains the most time efficient method to farm the exotic. 2. Drop rates from world chests get nerfed to bring average drop rate in line with actually doing the mission. 3. Drop rates from mission get upped to 2 exotics per run to bring drop rate in line with the running circles method. Sadly, outcome 2 is the most likely. Everybody loses. Outcome 3 would be an "everybody wins" scenario. Yet people will actively argue against this outcome.

They just need to add them to overthrow once you've planted all luminous seeds, and then add triple drops for clearing the exotic mission.

I don't think I've ever seen a glitch get reversed in any video game 😅

Edited by llSpAxXll: 7/1/2024 7:37:13 PMFarming them solo by working on the pathfinder every week. Once I’ve gotten the three runs over just farm the ‘random’ chests in the pale heart. There is an optimal route in The landing that will allow you to get all 5 in one go. You effectively farm these out for an hour you’ll get 3 to 5 in less then an hour to drop, solo.

Edited by 0interestrates: 7/1/2024 7:12:21 PMPersonally i think it taking 2 hrs to get one drop from farming chests is a bit much when theres no dupe protection. We have 3 characters and 60+ drops each toon. If every one takes an hour, as an example thats 180+ hours of chest farming assuming you get zero dupes. Faster to just do the mission but cant always get a friend to help for hours and 10 runs in a row. For reference i got like 12 drops in one week on one toon. Didnt do mission on other toons. I spent a few days for hours at a time just farming those chests. At least 12 hours so far.

My past ~10 so farms it's been 50+ chests between exotic class item drops (mostly dupes). So it feels like Bungie *lowered* the drop rate of casual Pale Heart chest farming so the co-op mission still remains the most efficient form of farming? I think if we get an exotic engram we should be able to focus it at Rhool for a random Class Item Exotic.
