Just started rewatching today. Do it

I was very close to rewatching The Owl House after finishing The Ghost and Molly McGee. Instead I started Amphibia, as I was told it has pretty similar vibes. I'm pretty excited to see where it goes. The plot already has me pretty interested, and I have received a slight spoiler in the form of a screenshot from a later episode, and I have no idea how we're going to get from fun frog adventures to magical girls in space*. I doubt it'll be as good as The Owl House, though. The Owl House is a very, very high bar.
*I don't know if it's actually magical girls in space, I only saw it for a split second, but it looked like magical girls in space.
Still mad at Disney for shitcanning the third season. We deserved a more fleshed out ending
-
Of The Owl House? Tbh, I actually thought its ending was perfect. The format was a little weird, with the 3 big episodes at the end instead of the normal format, but honestly I kinda liked that part. It made it feel like a big movie at the end of the show, which is always a fun sendoff.
-
So Amphibia went on about the same time as Owl House and there's even a couple crossover scenes in both and the voice actors did a voice only crossover at a convention at some point, but anyway if you look at both they follow the same plot of someone getting trapped somewhere, then making it home with their new friends before going back to save the other universe. I was hoping for more adventures on the normal universe side, much like Amphibia does. Instead of twenty episodes we got the equivalent of six. I guess I just wanted more but it went the way of Infinity Train and got canned too early

Oh, does Amphibia have human world adventures too? That’s fun. I’m watching it for the first time, and I’m only in season 2. They just found Marcy, and I love her. :p In any case, though, while I see where you’re coming from, I’m actually glad they didn’t stay in the human world very long. Not that long ago, I watched Star vs the Forces of Evil, and it was great, I loved it. But when I think about the biggest problem in SvFE, the thing that comes to mind is the huge tone shift in Season 3; the first two seasons took place on Earth, and the latter two took place on another dimension called Mewni. And I still really enjoyed Season 3 and especially Season 4, but Season 2 is definitely where the show peaked. When the show made the jump to Mewni, it just felt different, you know? The character dynamics shifted, the side characters changed, and even the general aesthetic of the show. With The Owl House, I liked the episodes where they were in the human world, but I’m also glad they went back to the Boiling Isles right quick. It could’ve easily suffered the same problem as Star. Though I haven’t finished Amphibia yet, so maybe after seeing how it handled it, I’ll change my tune. I think their time in the human world in The Owl House served its purpose.

I haven't seen Star vs Forces of Evil, not sure if we'll watch it. I think the writers or showrunner changed after season 2 and it all went to crap. Amphibia definitely does the shift to Earth real well, and I think Owl House would have done it well too if they had time. Other top tier shows we can recommend: Hilda, Adventure Time, World of Gumball, Gravity Falls, Samurai Jack, Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, Primal, and Avatar if you haven't seen it already. Maybe Regular Show too if you make it through everything else. Also honorable mentions to seasons 1-3 of Spongebob and seasons 1-9 of the Simpsons.

Having just finished Amphibia, I think I'm actually still glad The Owl House didn't spend much time in its human world segment. I had a lot of the same problems I did with Amphibia's jump from Amphibia to Earth as I did with Star's jump from Earth to Mewni. Making a jump to an entirely new world just kinda changes the vibe of the show, and causes a big shift in the character dynamics, as well as resulting in leaving a lot of older side characters behind--basically switching up the entire supporting cast. And to be clear, this isn't, like, the worst thing ever, and I enjoyed both of the above shows after the world shift, but I also like both of them better before it happened. During Amphibia's Season 3, I couldn't help but just kind want to get back to Amphibia. I will say, I did enjoy Amphibia's world shift a bit better, mostly because; A. There were still a couple episodes set in Amphibia, and their goal during this time was always to get back there, both of these things resulting in a sort of promise that the old side characters were going to come back. B. It was shorter, being only half a season instead of 2 seasons. Enough for them to spend some time and have fun adventures on Earth, but also short enough that we don't get... Homesick, for lack of a better term? But, while Amphibia did it better than Star, I do think The Owl House actually did it better than Amphibia, specifically because it was so short. It was really focused on the emotional impact of things, and I think not expanding on the human world that much also, strangely enough, helped it feel more real. Like, I can't really believe that Amphibia's version of Earth is the real deal; there's too many zany adventures and goofy characters and whatnot. The version of Earth in The Owl House does feel real, though, and I think that's because they showed us enough that it's pretty obvious it's supposed to be our world, but showed us little enough that the cartoon logic of the show didn't really spill over into it. None of this is to say Amphibia's real world segments were bad, though. I liked 'em, and if The Owl House had some real world shenanigans, I would've probably liked them, too. Obviously, I can't say anything for certain given that they don't exist, but I think I'd prefer the show without them. Oh and also...
I can't believe they straight up impaled Marcy! Like, this wasn't some sort of magic sword that doesn't leave real wounds or anything, she was just straight up stabbed through the chest with a real-a** gosh darn sword! My poor baby! ;-; I had actually had this scene spoiled for me, but at the time I didn't know it was Marcy and by the time I had actually picked up the show I didn't know who was getting stabbed, just that someone was going to get stabbed at some point. Even knowing the scene was coming, it still totally caught me off guard, and, like, I didn't expect them to treat it like a genuine stab wound. I thought they were kind of going to brush it off like a lot of these shows tend to do. Like, the sword was magic or something, and rather than actually cutting through stuff, it just inflicts some sort of weird magic wound or something, that's still dangerous but not actual impalement. But no, they just actually stabbed her, and she was about to actually die. Marcy being my favorite character really made season 3 an emotional rollercoaster. Oh, and Mr. X's wheelie shoes made me laugh every time I saw them. That was funny.
I would recommend Star, it was pretty good. I personally rank it above Gravity Falls and Amphibia (so far). It’s not as good as The Owl House, though. iirc, Star landed at number 5 on my list of favorite shows. The Owl House was number one, then Steven Universe, Hilda, and Avatar/Korra. Out of that list, I’ve seen Hilda, Avatar, and Gravity falls all the way through, and I’ve seen a good chunk of Adventure Time/Regular Show but lost interest. The Amazing World Gumball is amazing, though, one of the most hilarious shows I’ve seen. I’ve wanted to watch it all the way through for a while, but it’s a pretty long series so that gets expensive, as I hate streaming services. I’ve heard of Samurai Jack, and may watch it one day. It seems pretty neat. Grew up with Spongebob. Not too interested in The Simpsons, though. Adult animation doesn’t interest me. Haven’t heard of the others, though, what are they like?

Have you heard of the magic of a VPN and torrenting? We used it to get all those shows, since paying for a bunch of streaming services sucks. Samurai Jack is very different from all the other shows. It's drawn in a unique way and the main focus of the show is on visuals and not dialogue. There's entire episodes with fewer than ten lines. Kipo is a show that seemed to be popular in Canada and follows a girl and her friends in a post apocalyptic world where the animals have become kinda human like. My girlfriend showed me this scene https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SmSXxVPDT0 and I knew we had to watch it. Primal is made by the same person that made Samurai Jack, Genndy Tartakovsky. It follows a caveman and a T-Rex as they live in prehistoric times and work together to survive. There is no dialogue, at least nothing we can understand. Kinda gruesome in some parts though so probably not for everyone. I grew up on the Simpsons so I know it as a show that's suitable for kids, even if it would be classified as adult animation. The first few seasons were literal gold and spawned tons of references and famous memes/quotes.
I don’t even know what those words mean. :D
Samurai Jack is very different from all the other shows. It’d be fun to watch just to see how they pull that off, honestly! Like, Samurai Jack gets a lot of praise, so it’s surprising to hear it’s also not your run of the mill kind of thing.
Kipo is a show that seemed to be popular in Canada and follows a girl and her friends in a post apocalyptic world where the animals have become kinda human like. Is this show anywhere besides Netflix, or is it Netflix only?
Primal is made by the same person that made Samurai Jack, Genndy Tartakovsky. I’m a wimp! :p
I grew up on the Simpsons so I know it as a show that's suitable for kids, even if it would be classified as adult animation. I’d watch it a bunch as a kid, so in my brain it’s a child-appropriate show even though I’m fairly certain it very much is not! :p

Looks like it's available on Amazon as DVDs, otherwise you'd have to figure out the world of torrenting. Or pay up for Netflix. I'm sure if you look hard enough it's available on some sketchy website
-
Cool, I can do DVDs. I will have to remember to buy it later!
-
These seem like things on Disney+. If true then I will take a note on that! Currently feeling unstable, probably due to the heat. Mind being pulled into 4 different directions and what not. And that children is how the octopus slain the fungi.
-
Oh yes, they are all on Disney+. I’ve been leeching off my mummy’s Disney+ account to watch them, though I still hate streaming services so I’m buying them all on iTunes after. Hm… On a scale of 1-10 how accurately this song describe you?
No really, though, sorry you aren’t feeling great. Hope things get better! >.<
-
Actually that's pretty on point... Except I can't sing like that and have the talent to convey such sublime subtly to how they actually feel. O/10! Actually 9/10 because the universe demands nothing be perfect because perfection is evil!
Thanks.
Aw much as the heat is draining me I need to rethink a few things.

Molly’s voice actor is very good at that I’m about to have a mental breakdown voice. :p In any case, wishing you the best! All the hugs! <3

. . . Awesome 💯
-
me is tired but The ghost is awesome, many thanks for the recommendation.

Looking up this clip has exposed me to the fact that Molly has the same voice actor as Tiny Tina, like, from Borderlands, and now I can’t unhear it and it is totally weirding me out. ._.
