I've been around since The Beginning (vanilla D1). I know what was promised. In short a game like Baldur's Gate 3, but then as a Halo-esque shooter. Hell, yeah... But boy, was I wrong. Hoping it would redeem itself I kept playing. Even through its worst expansions until a year ago.
Then something snapped. I really, REALLY started to hate this game, feeling its broken promise and utter disappointment to my core. Every damn expansion was the same rinse and repeat BS. "Oh, a new subclass, with all sorts of unlockables. New and improved weapons. Grindables. And those hardcore activities for which you really needed a ace team."
Now, I love gaming with friends. But since I have my own bussiness and a busy family life it proved pretty damn impossible to get together and play at moments I could spare the time. Sure, large chunks I could play alone, but to get the best weapons and gear I needed to do those hardcore activities. It wasn't a matter of choice, but a must. Otherwise my equipment wasn't on par with other members of my fireteam and in return I didn't want to get carried. But on those rare occasions all planets alligned something that should be a nice passing of free time more often than not turned into an hellish adventure in which I was denied the satisfaction of completing a hardcore challenge.
Sure, git gut, I know, but you can't git gut if you lack the time needed (!) to perfect your equipment and play style. D1 was much more balanced. You didn't NEED to raid. That was just extra icing on the cake. I had my favorite scout rifle and that was more than enough to best the biggest baddies in the game solo. Even in crucible. But then all those weapons got thrown out. And I've never had a favorite weapon again, because I knew I had to go with the meta, which kept on changing.
And now that The Final Shape has launched I simply don't get what the fuss is all about. I don't care about the landscape in which you've got to play (it feels like a bad trip), new subclasses, new weapons, new enemies, new ...everything. It feels repetitive, more of the same old grind. And the hardcore activities have not just become harder, but also essential to experience the end of the game...
God, I really HATE with every fugging fiber in my body what this game has become! What a waste of my time (thousands of hours across almost a decade).
Anyone else share this sympathy?

I truly loved The Final Shape, only the Taken King outclasses it. I quit before the Lightfall, came back for a free Lightfall, had fun, followed by the Final Shape. I have seasons, but my space operations are slowly closing as well. Play the little story on Tuesday and get out. I don’t have hours to burn myself for useless grind. Destiny is a great game but I realize that this is no longer game for busy people. Will finish slowly the Echos and probably come back for the next big splash. My days maining this game are over as much as it pains me. Great game but simply not designed for what I like. See you in the next big Bungie splash or in a mission or two in Echos.

2 Repliesi withheld judgement. i wanted to see what the changes felt like. final shape is absolute trash. i’m talking garbage tier. i don’t really understand how people like this garbage and i don’t really care. this is lightfall level disappointing but in another direction. in this case it’s not just the story although some of the dialogue and story seem like badly written fan fiction. “we fight beside you”. i laughed at that terrible stupid dialogue. each and every destiny youtuber was falling over themselves to tell us how great everything is and i just don’t see it. all the things to play are there but the reasons are gone. power is pointless but you’re also unable to do content if you don’t have a certain number that is then meaningless in the activity because your power is limited. it’s almost as if the people who make the game don’t speak to each other when they’re making these hairbrained decisions. that, or they’re actually that dense. i don’t really care one way or the other. final shape is terrible. i’m talking fecal material. i mean doo doo! i’m talking dirty soiled underwear levels of stink style poo! almost like the people that came up with this 💩 are into scat. they’ve rendered half the game pointless and the other half almost inaccessible if you’re not playing on two pcs and streaming for a living to get beyond 2000. this dlc is unapproachable trash. i don’t know the new game directors name but i hope they fire that guy if he made these trash decisions.

Sounds like it's time to uninstall and play something new. At some point with any game it's just enough and you stop caring . That's the life of a gamer for ya.
-
Call me crazy, but I have a slight hunch that you actually care a lot.

1 ReplyIf you have your own family, stop writing essays on the Bungie forums as if you were a high school student, and live your life. You haven't played in one year, what took over your brain and decided, "Bungie forums must hear my outdated opinion!!" Seriously, I don't mean to be rude but nothing here about you or your post makes any sense.

1 ReplyThe cult will destroy your credibility and minimize your being. You will be considered outcast and no longer relevant to mankind. From the darkness of the abyss of addiction and delusion cult members will spew evil disdain upon you for your opinion. Good luck to you, and to all that enter here, run!

2 RepliesThat's a lot of paragraphs for someone who doesn't care. You know what I do when I don't care about a game anymore? I stop playing it and move on. To go through this much effort to say you don't care is unhealthy, I love the new subclass, the buildcrafting, and the post campaign. I haven't had my loadout slots stay the same once for a day, there's so much to experiment with and do. Big fan of the launch, and the raid was just as amazing as I'd hoped.

Curious why people still think this is a grind type game, yes we all have lives well most, you can now lfg or in game lfg or discord for help, items for god rolls are really up to you to grind, but all the basic stuff work to get raids and stuff done,...... always fun to read posts like this lol...

"But since I have my own bussiness and a busy family" Nobody forced you to riddle yourself with a busy family. Stop crying about your own mess.

1 - you haven't played since June 2023 2 - I'm not reading all that 3 - no one asked

You don’t play at all. So this is disruption. Here’s some reviews though! Destiny 2: The Final Shape on Steam. This content requires the base game Destiny 2 on Steam in order to play. 9 Replies1000% I saw the 1st reveal and got into the Alpha 10 yrs later some parts feel completely wasted. I always knew some things I would never get, I accepted that, sometimes in D1 I was able to do raids (before all the friends left this game franchise when Bungie kept listening to streamers and making everything harder). Now I see how they treat solo players, they wanna lock one raid gun behind a raid, yeah sure that makes sense, I'm fine with that. BUT Now they wanna lock a 64 possible rolls Exotic Armor Class item behind forced co-op. I see, NO that's not "cool" Then we have Microcasm, and as I just found out guardian ranks above 7 (which who cares thats a number) but it's the principal, AND it shows THIS is the direction Bungie is taking the game in the future. No thanks, I'm out. I will watch the forums from afar and I will play solo games that treat solo players with respect. Maybe I'll even join all my old destiny friends in the games they now play, never liked PvP but they have talked about Apex for years lol either way, 10000% agreed with you

You had me at Destiny being promised to be like BG3 😅 You should take your anger out in the new Elden Ring DLC. I don't know how good it is but I'm seeing 10's across the board.
-
It’s a dead game! Nobody cares anymore. 🤣🤣🤣 Absolutely nothing here but a shamble mess of shallowness!

Edited by An Engram Full Of Bees: 6/21/2024 11:25:35 PMI get where you’re coming from, but I’ve been playing since pre-alpha and I don’t think it’s fair to criticize the game for not living up to their “vision” ten years ago. This franchise (and even Bungie itself) has gone through so many changes, especially in the last few years. The OG vision was never going to be attainable because it was never in the cards to begin with (certainly not after D2 released, for reasons I’m not going to list because most of us already know them). As for where it is today, the core of Destiny has always been its co-op shooter-looter focus. That’s the foundation of the genre the game exists in. That’s not to say they have to follow those guidelines, but it’s a specific (and very popular) market that the game is built for.

2 RepliesIf you do anything long enough, I'd imagine at some point you'd feel that way. I've had that problem with jobs. About 5 years in (sometimes less) I could predict nearly everything that would happen every day. It was depressing. I'd ask myself, "Can I really do this for ... more years?" The answer was always no. It was a sign to move on. So I did. If you aren't loving what you're doing, find something that does.

Edited by belayaa: 6/21/2024 4:33:39 PMOkay bye. Edit: It's been a year since you played why are you still putting negativity out into the universe about something that you don't play seriously do you just love to stew in your negativity?
-
What the -blam!- are you talking about? Lol This game was never marketed as a b gate 3 type game lol. People like to make things up to make it seem like it's bungie's fault lol.
-
Same, that's why I quit over a year ago.

2 RepliesBro thats just a game

Is it me or it says the last time you played was 2023? All your characters are 1900. Seems like you really don’t care enough to even try TFS. I like it, personally.
