While I understand everyone paid money for this DLC and everyone was excited to play it through and see the end of this 10 year story; but y'all absolutely CANNOT be so dense to think that servers won't have problems with thousands of people playing on them at the sametime? Come on. That's silly to think that won't happen. It's happened with every Destiny DLC, and yet here you are, once again complaining about the same things have happened with the previous DLC's and any other DLC from a game.
There is so much love and time put into these things for you, the consumer, to absolutely destroy in 2 seconds because "it doesn't work right as soon as it launches". Like I said, i get it, you want to play the game, but they obviously wouldn't just release the DLC and say "Lol okay going home now" They're actively working on a fix, so just give it some time before jumping down their throats about how shitty their game is. YOU STILL BOUGHT IT, AND YOU'RE STILL GOING TO PLAY IT. So....

Sorry, but I disagree wholeheartedly. As others have pointed out, games like Final Fantasy XIV which is an MMORPG just like Destiny don't have server issues of this magnitude and their servers have to handle a much higher level of traffic than this game. That tells me, simply put, that Bungie doesn't have the servers to meet the demands of their player base which should not be a thing, but it is. If Bungie had half of the amount of servers for Destiny 2 as Square Enix has for Final Fantasy XIV, we would be getting currant'd to death at the moment. Think about it, this expansion was delayed by 4 months so that could supposedly fine tune it and work out all the kinks. A lot of good that did when you don't have the servers to meet the demands of the players whom are shelling out $100 apiece to play this game. With bigger, upgraded servers there would literally be no issues at the moment. Maybe Bungie should have used some of that $3.6 billion Sony money they got and invested in better servers. The only thing you got right is the notion that I bought the expansion and that I will still get to play it, but when you consider the delay in the release, the layoffs and now a very pee poor launch, it's not a good look for Bungie and players have every right to have a very bad taste in their mouth at this moment in time.

Your answers shows how arrogant you really are. We have paid 200 dollars each one of us for every -blam!- dlc. Bungie is a multimillion company and the server status is just DISGUSTING. This is a fact. I don't know if you work for bungie or what, but the fact is that 90% of the ''customers'' as you told are mad with this company.
-
Bro save ts stop yapping they should just fix servers.
-
I agree with you but you would think with everything riding on this DLC they would have a least been prepared this time around.
-
Bro, Final Fantasy & World of Warcraft has a larger player base, same incredible funding and don't -blam!- it up like Bungie every single expansion. Stop defending this low bar expectation mindset.
-
Yep. Server issues and bugs are just a thing that happens to most (if not all) online games, especially during a release. This isn't a Bungie or Destiny issue. It's an online gaming issue. It's been happening since the earliest MMOs I played back in the late 90's. Games are just made with billions of moving parts. Things just go wrong sometimes. It's always a good idea to expect this on any game's release day. Most companies solve it by the next day (and that's why I called tomorrow off work instead of today lol.)
-
Every expansion, which are The size of two maybe three D2 DLCs, released by Square Enix, for FFXIV, has its hurdles, but there's never a long wait to get in, nor as many error codes as bungo experiences year after year after year. And FFXIV tends to have thousands of players on at the same time, across millions of players total. Bungo does it more often, with less, yet screws up even more. It's far more dense to think that Bungo would get anything right, on the day they release new content, lol.
-
why shouldn't people expect a working expansion for games I think that the industry has made you a little too mellow to this kind of thing delay after delay to fix any problems with the game and yet many people are still sol cause the servers are unstable. when they released this it should have been finished it shouldn't have an absolutely server rending issue that makes it impossible for thousands of new and old players to experience the game. I understand that Bungie devs have some of the hardest jobs that have only gotten harder with layoffs and sony execs breathing down their necks but releasing thei expansion like this is not going to help them maintain their playerbase or profits. at the very least the launch should have been playable it shouldn't have error coded people out for 2+ hours post maintenance and it shouldn't bar people from playing the content they didn't purchase for cheap.

-
You really over here trying to justify this. Blowing a multi million dollar company. No, they should have known for the last 10 years how to fix their -blam!-. I promise their not going to think highly of you for taking a Bungie load to the face
-
Many online games have server and bug issues during a release. That's just a fact in game development since the first MMOs in the 90's. Not just Bungie or Destiny. I get that you don't understand that, but understand that that's just the reality we live in. Money isn't a factor in server issues and bugs. There are only so many devs even at the biggest game company and they're trying to maintain billions of moving parts. Not to mention that these devs can only work so much per day until either they burn out or they get sent home because of overtime. Instead of assuming Bungie should've known better, you should wonder why server issues and bugs happen during release for many games, and why no one has been able to fix it in literally decades. You think any game company would want this happening to their business? (Rhetorical.)
-
Agreed. However, it is the most important expansion they've ever released. So people's frustration is warranted. They just want to experience everything without missing out. Let 'em be upset.
-
@Craelizz I wouldn't say "warranted" lol. That implies accountability, and no one can be accountable for bugs/server issues the same way no one can be accountable for a random forest fire. "Expected" is a better word. Any experienced rational gamer knows better than to complain about such a common issue in online games. Complaining about it is naive. And I don't meant that as an insult - but the truth is, if you think this is Bungie's fault, it just goes to show how uninformed someone is about business and/or the hardships of game development. It's really just not easy or straightforward.

If you're as sure of yourself as you sound in your nothing burger of a two paragraph post. Kindly uninstall the game. It is braindead reaches like yours that are why it is so widely acceptable for game developers to act with such negligence and laziness upon releasing products. Imagine simping so hard for a company who could give 2 flicks of a soggy -blam!- if you or anyone else pays for their product. I think everyone here is fully and understandably rightfully pissed about the state of this launch. However whatever the actual -blam!- flew out of your brain that you decided to type into a conceived thought thinking you made a lick fo sense, you're advocating for shitty underhanded business practices from a company who's had many chances to actually act like they give a -blam!- about releasing a quality product. P.S. Uninstall the game, we don't need more brain rotted troglodytes like you in this community.

That's crazy how thousands of people manifested into thin air to play Destiny 2 so suddenly. How could Bungie have possibly known they needed an increased server capacity on one of their largest updates ever? If only there was anything they could have done, like prepare more server capacity for the launch...

So....[/quote] “You buggin B”… Not being able to land anywhere but the tower, 🤔 hmmmm sorry but this haven’t happened with any of the dlcs dating back to Destiny 1. So someone who paid for a product that doesn’t work properly has that right to complain, especially if Sony is accepting refunds. (Yep, PlayStation is offering refunds.)

A little sensitive there, pal. There is nothing wrong with expecting a purchased game to be playable — end of story. These complaints are not about grading the game’s quality, but if you can’t play it what rating can you give it? Just let people get it off their chests, and — just maybe — stop giving the blockbuster game company the benefit of the doubt. There’s no reason they couldn’t have gone out of pocket to shore up their boxes for opening day/night… except money. Which is how we purchase the game, and why these complaints shouldn’t be minimized. This isn’t the ‘compassion’/‘we all love this’ part of the transaction just yet. Any dev worth anything at all knows they need to bring functionality to the table. Any software professional will tell you that this is most likely them trying to save money, OR side effects of widespread rebalancing. In either case, it’ll get better with a bit of time. but as paying customers, patience is not strictly required of us. Eyes up! I’ll see y’all out there… eventually…

You should be embarrassed with how stupid this post is. The fact that this has happened before tells you that they have experience and this should’ve been somewhat mitigated. Campaign is unplayable right now and wasting a lot of people’s time and patience with constant errors. Can’t keep repeating the same exact mistakes and expect a positive responses.
-
This is Bungies WORST launch ever! All the other years were never this bad! With their history this -blam!- shouldn't happen.
-
Lightfall had more concurrent players with way less issues.
-
That is exactly the problem... This happens EVERY DLC... Why does no one learn from past mistakes and screw ups? after how many times it happening... IT SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING AFTER 10 YEARS. Stop defending them. They do not deserve our defence. While I also agree we should not be on the all out attack. We absolutely should not be derping and going "OK I guess Ill just bend over and say 'thankyou may I have another'" You may like being subservient and simping for a company. I do not and I expect more from a seasoned supposed AAA game company.
-
I entirely agree with this. People sometimes people forget, or simply don't understand, how much goes into development and maintaining a live service game like this. Add to the fact that there is more and more players joining Destiny 2 every year. Normally, the player base would be spread out which means less strain on the servers at one time. With DLC releases, that whole player base is trying to play at once. The server reaction is unpredictable at best. That's just the hardware issues. Software also has issues with adding the volume of content. There is already a massive amount of content in the game. Adding the amount of content that DLC content includes makes QA testing extremely difficult. Which is why vaulting was started. Now any player with experience playing other live service games will know it can be a lot worse. ESO, for instance, has constant issues that go truly unfixed.
-
If they have had this issue EVERY YEAR then it should be solved. Marketing this DLC the way they have and not making sire the servers are good to go before hand is lazy. People who defend them like this every time they fumble are why they are comfortable fumbling every time. Why is it now silly to expect a paid for product to function as expected?
-
What have they been doing for 4 months then? Bungie had plenty of time. You could even Argue that they've had time Since FORSAKEN to fix this problem. I know it's not something new to the game, we all should've known bungie wasn't gonna do jack and we're all still gonna play when we can all get in, people just gotta be patient.

How do you 3xplain me buying the $100 pre order version with annual pass, got tessellation and all the other pre order goodies, but when I get on today I have no season pass. And I'm more than sure I'll have to purchase it again.
