The game has good game type variety now. And new maps are coming. Maps is probably one of the biggest things this game needs to start to truly rival things like Halo. As long as people are playing their preferred type of matchmaking the weapon variety is there. Rewards is one of those things that's going to take some figuring out. Just look at something like onslaught and then multiply that times 10 in terms of the anger people will start to feel if the rewards are too skill or accomplishment based. But that's also something that people that play a lot are probably going to want. Some PvP "mains" might not mind not having weapon rewards tied to skill accomplishments but that's also one of the things that would make this game's PvP stand out compared to others. Doesn't really make all that much difference right now to me but there does need to be some kind of reward system.

  • I'm old school and I HATE participation awards. IT just makes everyone soft. The entitlement of everyone thinking they deserve an award, pat on the back or a certain weapon or emblem is ludicrous. Earn it and things would be far better. Bungie can't decide if this should be a game for grinders, casuals, hardcore players, elite skilled players etc. they change up all the time and that frustrates the players. Look at other games out where the developer makes a game for the best players.. gamers know these game and stay away if they dont want that challenge. or conversley, stay away or join easier games etc. Bungie has no real identity. Destiny 1 was def for the grinders and time investors and d2 quickly changed that, shedding hundreds and thousands of players who have never come back. Not all rewards need to be weapons and great perks. Emblems, shaders, etc The problem in Destiny is that everyone has been groomed and conditioned to expect they can and should be able to aquire these items, even if it means others should be helping them get it. People are putting less effortinto the game and expecting good results. Life and Destiny just don't work that way.

Then that messes the game up and it becomes hard to get the people that leave because of that back. If things were more straightforward in that area maybe more people could be satisfied with what they got. But for a lot of D2's history the goal seems to have been to make everyone think they can have everything, just like you said. And for the most part people could have everything. Not sure if its going to be easy to have a straightforward approach, but it gets easier and easier to tell when the game isn't doing that...
