I think swords do pretty well for damage. Rather, an idea I've had is: During your heavy attack, you are granted the benefits of blocking for the duration of the animation. This let's skill-expression come through - by timing heavy attacks (which are generally detrimental to total damage and minimally effective for dps), you can stay closer to a boss after it's stomp, and be alive without need of well of radiance. For shotguns, aggressive frame needs more reserve ammo. Their intrinsic "onslaught-esque" perk (final blows significantly increase rate of fire) needs to be played into. They're heavy-duty ad/major clear, not necessarily dps. They, in return, should avoid being buffed by the 35%.

I like your suggestion for swords, but I have to disagree with you on the role of aggressive shotguns. I see them more as raw damage type weapons due to the fact that they are extremely clunky, but generally have more and better damage perks than other frames, and usually not many utility or crowd control perks. They deal more damage per shot than slugs, but less than High-Impact Fusions, which have a marginally faster fire rate (even with assault mag), which is why I believe Bungo should just lean into the high risk/reward factor and allow them to do very high burst damage above all else

  • I don't mean to sound rude (not my goal) Aggressive shotguns tend to be the least burst-damage oriented shotguns out of the available frames. Rather, they display a unique property of being able to fire their full reserves at maximum fire rate, thus making them a little more sustained-damage. Rapid-fires, on the other paw, show great burst damage when accounting for dumping their magazine. They suffer long term due to reloading (which can be mitigated). This is kind of reversed in ad clear scenarios. The high damage, single shot of aggressive can chunk majors, and the intrinsic trait helps keep them, well, aggressive. They are limited by their lower magazine sizes, and sometimes reserves. Rapid fires, which reload each shell faster, can sustain adclear small ads with more efficiency, however, with less efficacy against majors (taking more shots, requires longer reload). I feel as if a magazine bump and a specialized perk pool on a new aggressive shotgun could do the frame justice. This is coming from someone who used a toil and trouble (field prep, autoloading) for several hundred pve kills. (This is also not me saying your idea bad! I'm offering a my own opinion.)

  • no worries. I didn't take it as rude and I appreciate you and others sharing your thoughts on this topic. I get where you're coming from with this, however I don't think anyone is using shotguns with sustained damage or crowd control in mind. They certainly have more ease of use, but if those roles are what I'm going for, why not use a sniper or fusion for damage, and trace rifles or wave frames for cc? I personally view shotguns as boss chunking burst damage weapons, and I think worse ease of use, slower fire rate, and less reserves should equate to more raw damage output.
