If I'm not mistaken, it's more of a programming oversight than a bug. I think a long time ago in Trials, on a manual revive, you used to revive with special ammo but they changed it later where you don't have any after an ally revives you. I'm pretty sure that was a thing back then and if it was, then I bet that old change is still being referenced in Checkmate Trials and why there's a conflict. Depending on who wrote that code, it could be hard for other devs to find.
Basically I think it's spaghetti code that they didn't look through hard enough, not a bug or glitch.
