[MENTOR] Mentor FAQ

What is a Mentor? Mentors are community volunteers monitoring the forums, but we also are parents, students, and more. We wear the "White Gloves" and are here to help assist you in the best way possible. We're refined, professional, and clean. You will see us answer questions and open the door to new members. We keep the forum as neat as possible for issues to be tracked quickly and more efficiently. What is our objective? Our main objective is to ensure that you get back into the game quickly and slay away the enemies! We do our best to assist the community by helping players identify and correct issues with their network setup, game, or console and provide knowledgebase articles for additional assistance and information. If we are not able to identify and help correct the issue(s) you are having, we may refer you back to your internet service provider or console's support team. If we cannot assist you further for game issues however, we will call in backup from Destiny Player Support to assist you further. How do you compare to Ninjas or Employees? We lead you to the answers you seek. Sometimes you will see us move a thread to the appropriate place for more visibility and to get better traction, but we'll never change your content. We're here to cultivate the community and assist those in need. Wait so you guys move threads? Yes, but only when a topic is better suited somewhere else. Sometimes questions are made in #Help that pertain more to the gameplay of Destiny as opposed to bug reports and technical issues with the game or website. We just move things to places where they'll get better traction. Are you the only ones doing this? Definitely not! Bungie Employees and Forum Ninjas are also around. You'll primarily find Mentors in the #Help forum, but you can find us in other forums as well. We're more likely to hop on your questions as employees are busy building a beautiful new universe for us or tackling things behind the scenes, and Ninjas have a pretty heavy ban hammer that slows them down and keeps them in the shadows. Are you guys on set schedules? Of course not! As mentioned above, we are just like you, normal players. Mentors are always around in some capacity. Post a detailed thread and we'll get to your #Help forum questions as soon as possible. You'll find that some of us are more active at different hours depending on our locations or personal schedule. What if I need a Bungie employee? We work closely with the Destiny Player Support team and other Bungie employees who also monitor the forum. Most times, we or even other community members will have the answers you seek. We will also help you gather all the information Bungie needs to take action. What's the best way to get help? If you have an issue which you need help with, edit your tags to #Help if in the wrong forum or create a new post in #Help with a clear title such as, "I can't do [ISSUE] on [PLATFORM]". The more detailed you are with your post, the faster we can resolve your issue. If you are vague with your issue, we may need to ask you more questions to find the answers you seek. Do you have to be a Mentor to assist in the #Help forum? Absolutely not! We were once members who helped out in the #Destiny2 and #Help forums before we were invited to become Mentors. How do I become a Mentor? We're happy to invite people in when we think both the time and person is right. You should always treat others with respect. All assistance that is given in the #Help forum is noticed and very much appreciated. If you need tips and additional information to help out others, check out the Bungie.net FAQ to get you pointed in the right direction.
