EDIT: Steam beta is the problem not destiny opt in beta (that does not exist). Go back to non beta steam and it will restart and you will be fine.

I spent my whole afternoon trying to fix it. Couldn't imagine it was something so simple. Thank you so much, you are a legend.

Yeah, how the frick is this issue being resolved instantly but if we find some game exploits which are within game they are put down almost instantly. Wtf is this bungie? Fix your damn game. And did y'all did any recent windows update, cuz I did mine just before, but I'll try reverting back to the free base version of steam instead of beta. Thanks for one of the solutions I guess.

I have no clue why this wasn't the first thing that popped up when I searched "Destiny 2 not launching October 2023", but thank you so much, wish I found this before I did the hour of sweet, sweet F.A.

thankyou so much. this was my issue as well. out of curiosity do you know which part of steam beta was causing the crash?
-
Thank you! Steam Beta was my issue as well. Once I went back the game opened inmediately.
-
Oh thank you, that was actually my problem why it wasn't starting. Switched back to the normal steam version and its working fine now.

Just had the same problem and removing the Beta option fixed it. Thanks for the conversation. FYI: In the Steam client go to Steam --> Settings --> Interface --> Client Beta Participation | change drop down option to "No beta chosen" and Steam will ask to restart. It will run an update/install, and then you are good to go. Eyes up, Guardian!
