I was uber-late to playing Destiny 2. Seriously, I only starting during Season of the Deep. I was new to the whole thing and I didn’t even get the season pass! I believe Bungie should bring back the original campaign instead of us relying on getting the dlc’s to following a part of the story. If not, at least bring it back temporarily to give the newer lights a taste of originality that the game had to offer. I’m aiming to get the Whisper of the Worm as one of the original exotics from the Monument to Lost Lights.
Speak your mind everyone.

Yeah Red War is so much better than this "new light" campaign. I especially got disappointed when instead of the cool snowy cosmodrome that we saw in the thunderlord mission (i think it was the version of cosmodrome from rise of iron? never played d1 so idk really) but instead we get this cringe grassy one.

I'd love to play the Red War campaign again. It was a strange decision to remove it as new players coming into Destiny universe have no idea about it or the struggles our Guardians had or the enormity of being allies with some cabal. If they brought it back even as a cut down version like removing some levels that don't really need to be there or shrinking them down, at least then new players can understand some D2 history and old players can wreck Ghaul with Strand / Stasis.
-
Imagine if they un-vaulted everything since day one, but after the final shape concludes. You now travel to the farm where a special sun-dial awaits and you can go back to any day in d2.

Edited by Soul_Eater_42: 10/3/2023 5:57:12 PMYes, it was a baffling decision to vault it. It makes the game confusing for new players. At the very least, they should have had some narrated ink drawn cutscenes explaining what happened in those story lines.

Man, seeing my guardian on the verge of death and journey playing in the background hit the chills the first time I played it -
Better and enjoyable that lightfall campain.

Red War was the D2 campaign, the Speaker had some of the best parts when talking with Ghaul. "I speak for the Traveler, I never said that it spoke to me"
-
The minute they removed The Red War was the minute they broke the plot line and ruined any hope newer players had of understanding the narrative. Want to care about the strange floating figure in Avalon? Tough, he was vaulted. Why is everyone so quick to welcome Sloane back into the fold? Because reasons. Why is the return of Cayde-6 so desired by the community? Lol, who cares? So much character and world building happened during the base campaign, and whilst it wasn't the best thing ever, it served its purpose. I played it so many times, I enjoyed it every time.

I remember when red war first came out and how much you guys hated it. Shows how much bungo has fallen that it seems good now 🤣🤣🤣 -
Playing Red War Campaign with the Legendary modifier they have now would be mega fun.
-
What if they released an offline version of Red War and connected the story campaign to a point where it was of value to us and they could monetize it (we get nothing without their ability to fund the effort)? It would be a discount for D2 vets and our invites from via a discount code like $9.99 - $14.99. Steam sale $6.99 w/invite code. Reg $24.99.. no insult as to price its just the content is developed it should be mostly a port. And approachable to totally new players. You just get to play it forever its yours.. those missions up to a certain point.. but no patrol/online stuff. (I am a software product manager and this is what I would pitch to Joe.. as I would buy it myself.. and would say this is self funding and promoting for players to try online version)

Bungie: Activision would still get royalties and we’ve spent years blaming them for how Vanilla D2 went.
-
They need to re-add all the DLCs and seasons as part of their own standalone games. That way they can't talk about how bloated Destiny is.
-
They should definitely bring back all the old content when final shape comes out so I can play from red war till now with any interruptions. But bungie doesn’t do anything right so I have zero hope of them doing anything good for this community anymore.
-
Yes it should, but it shouldn’t be free.

Edited by eliteg: 10/2/2023 2:48:40 AMI feel very lucky to have gotten to play the Red War campaign as a new light before " the vaulting". That was what made the struggle of a guardian.. why we are here.. the people.. connect for someone who knew nothing about Destiny. It was also awesome to unlock planets one by one. It made patrol zones, lost sectors and the planet vendors so much more important. (Haha I used to think that every planet had its own alien race.. and always thought it was strange we don't have space battles.. thought it was more sci-fi) Can't imagine what new players do now.. even if youtube has something.. it won't be the same as going through it yourself.

This is why live service and the DCV suck.
-
Maybe add an updated, faster one? 6-8 story missions maybe? One potential problem I see is that the Red War starts off kinda assuming you know the basic premise. It’d be great to add, but anything before Beyond Light needs to basically be remade from scratch with their engine updates. I think they’ll just keep adding more to the timeline mission thing. Would be nice to get one for each of the seasons going forward

Technically we are supposed to want everything but red war is one of those things that looks far better in some ways in hindsight, like lightfall is going to to some people. Would really like to be able to replay it with everything updated to today's standards. -

Edited by Ryan Foxling: 10/2/2023 10:17:35 AMWith the legendary difficulty as well. I still don't understand why people hated on red war campaign so much, it was actually good and even then I played on the launch I felt the same way

1AU is still one of my most favorite missions in D2! But honestly if I had my choice of Red War coming back or bringing back everything dealing with the Dreadnaught! But that was D1 and D2 would destroy it as it has pretty much everything from D1 so Red War please!
-
Funny that one of the reasons they vaulted content is because destiny has "five competing stories". Excuse me? What were they thinking to see different stories competing instead of building a coherent story? Makes no sense

You didn’t miss much except the midness of red war
