Sorry, game development is hard. They simply dont have the resources to implement another name change. 😭

Edited by The Best Cold Dish: 8/9/2023 9:03:11 PMNo. They do. Problem is the community can't be trusted with the one they do have, let alone another.

Trust has nothing to do with it, Bungie has full authority to ban any inappropriate names.
Trust has nothing to do with it, Bungie has full authority to ban any inappropriate names.
Of course they do. Unfortunately they have to do that relatively often. And even after 13 months it looks like they are not done anytime soon. So why would they give us another name change just to create more issues/infractions?
-
Why not? They can ban anything thats bad.
Why not? They can ban anything thats bad.
How does the saying go? Prevent. not cure.

Dangerous mindset when it comes to freedom of speech.

Freedom of speech is protection from the government, not how a private company operates their naming policy.

Not a discussion about rights, my point was that removing offensive content is better than not allowing any changes for the people who would use it properly.
Not a discussion about rights, my point was that removing offensive content is better than not allowing any changes for the people who would use it properly.
And how would Bungie know that? The answer: they don't. So why would they put their trust in a community that clearly doesn't know how to behave. Wonder why they changed it to BUNGIE names in the first place as opposed to platform names? Besides, you only need one name. If you don't like it, that's on you.

I see your point, really I do. But at the same time, it is unfair to punish regular people for the actions of a minority, especially when Bungie has the power to remove anything they dont like. Plus, there are plenty of legitimate reasons why someone might want another change.

They had to create an ENTIRE new name system just to stop people from constantly using their platform names to break code of conduct. (Looking at you steam) AND disable additional Bungie name changes. They've been banning names and players for A YEAR (July 2022) and aren't close to being done. So. No. We ain't getting another one anytime soon. Honestly the best thing you people can hope for is Bungie implementing Xbox's random name generator.
Dangerous mindset when it comes to freedom of speech.
This ain't a protest bud. Their game their rules. Don't like them, go make a Reddit post. Besides anyone that has their name reset should be thankful they weren't banned outright. :)

I had mine changed because I requested it from a Bungie ticket not because it broke code of conduct
