Thanks for all the advice, etc.
I have tried it on a Titan and a Hunter both over 1750 and both reasonably well equipped.
It is the randomness in dying that gets me - not skill based
Also the so called cheese method, hiding under the stairs, doesn't appear to be able to do anymore but to be honest why cheat? That only shows that there is a problem with the game design
I am just giving up on it. Bungie seem to think its fine as is - I don't. Games are for fun and this part isn't.
Have uninstalled and probably won't be back

So... thought I'd reinstall the game and try again. Nope. I cannot complete it. I am running a Hunter 1792 power. I can easily complete the first part. But the 2nd part I cannot get away from him quick enough and he just stomps me off the stage each time. I have tried Solar, Arc and Void. This is really pissing me off. I am a solo player and this should NOT be that hard. It is a clunky cheap game design to try and make the quest last longer. Uninstall time again I guess
