Cause they stopped vaulting content. Every expansion was meant to vault old content. It did not continue with witch queen, beyond light was the only instance of this.

Well, they did vault Red War, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, Forsaken, several planets and many more story missions. By my calculation that gives them about 4 expansions worth of space to do stuff with. And since then they have had Beyond Light, Witch Queen, and Lightfall, with about 2 seasons that are active. They should have more than enough to compensate for the amount they took out

They brought back a lot of weapons, they added content back, and they never removed the sunset items. They’re back to square one at this point and their original goal was to continue that trend of sun setting, but they stopped. So now we’re witnessing the problems that comes with

Maybe, but I don’t think that’s the cause of it. Destiny 2’s file size is not much bigger, if at all compared to what it was before. I think the game has just gotten so old, the code changed so often that the spaghetti code meme is turning out to be true, especially with how old the engine is. Maybe sunsetting helps, it probably did, but even if it was brought back, I don’t think it would fix it all
