Edited by More Power: 6/8/2023 8:33:22 PMDestiny one year one in April/May of 2015. That was the best PvP matchmaking imho. I got into PvP in about February or so of that year because I wanted the Thorn. I was not a PvP player… but, I soon acquired the Thorn, and after a couple of months of playing PvP, I found I actually liked it. The Thorn was awesome and I discovered that the Hopscotch Pilgrim pulse rifle could put me on even ground with camping snipers. Every weapon could be acquired by average folk, and they each had a counter it seemed. Grenades were ohk. Abilities gave weak players a chance against better players, and skill matching actually did a good job keeping player skill within bounds. Dynamic difficulty in pve hadn’t been invented yet, meaning the toughest missions eventually became doable by nearly anyone. Our group of old guys ground out the Vault of Glass on all three characters every week because the VoG legendary guns/gear were so awesome. And… most of all, Bungie hadn’t discovered streamers yet. Those were great times… and unfortunately… we did not see the storm on the horizon…
