First of all, I went to the link shown in the image here. The only relevant information I picked up is "Bungie will not punish a player for just playing the game." which clearly does not apply in my case.
I have 120 kb/s internet, I CANNOT help this. Let me also clarify that this is the only internet service provider in my area.
I am still capable of playing with eight people very comfortably, I play gambit regularly and without issue other than my damage not registering correctly most of the time. I only get disconnected very rarely from gambit / crucible and this happens on an average of maybe one out of every ten days I play the game. For instance, I've only disconnected four times in the last 20 days, once on the "mayhem" gamemode, twice on gambit - and once in a legendary lost sector I was playing ALONE in.
I've been playing since the game has been available on Steam with the release of Shadowkeep and the Season of Undying. This is the first time I've ever seen any sort of warning like this.
What am I expected to do here? I cannot complete the seasonal challenges or acquire the titles or even keep up with other players if I am just expected to stay away from the competitive game modes just because the game may boot me. There are too many weekly incentives, rewards and even certain requirements for unlocking content and flair for the game to justify forgoing the modes.
Is Bungie being too cruel? Is my internet really affecting other players that much? Am I just jaded? Please let me know.
Is my internet really affecting other players that much?
In a word? Yes. Especially in lobbies with 7 or 11 other players.
