I just think they wanted to make a casual raid, in response to Vows complexity backlash It's just like Crota, Crota is arguably the most powerful antagonist in lore, almost single handedly wiped out all guardians and feasted on the Light, but his raid was a joke because of complaints of VOGs difficulty, and the thousand cheeses made it even easier than designed Now Final Shapes raid will be influenced by RONs criticism, there might be 100 symbols each person has to input in 5 seconds , or wipe, and that will just be the non looted entrance

  • tbh most of the vow hate imo is just from ppl not wanting to have to study something to play something (I'm in the same boat tbh and would rather not have that many symbols to learn again. Though it made sense in vow as that raid was kinda like a museum of history and artifacts and knowledge (exhibition is literally a museum, caretaker is named caretaker (that one's a stretch))). Vow at its core is a really simple raid mechanically. Encounter 1 is just someone telling you to go here and read this Encounter 2 is just remember what you touched, and shoot the guy in the head and back Encounter 3 is kinda a more intense version of DSC's Descent/"do your job" encounter The most mechanically complex encounter, Rhulk, is also the one that's *praised* the most by players. Rhulk requires you to manage splitting a buff amongst allies, entering or avoiding his beam to convert that buff depending on if you're meant to maintain it or dunk what it turns into, all the while doing the same symbol reading and comparing you've been doing throughout the whole raid, coordinating who's dunking where, and that's not even getting into his damage phase where you have to shoot his staff, get hit by or avoid his beam, tell the person where to dunk, all the while controlling Rhulk's random aggro and shooting his crits. No one likes an arbitrary challenge. But teamwork and good coordination throughout mechanics can be really, really satisfying (look at how well regarded Last Wish is), and raids are the only content which allows for that to be experienced.
