You can play D2 on the Steam Deck BUT you have to do it through Windows OS.
Bungie has said repeatedly that they do not support Linux and trying to force D2 to play using a emulator like Photon is a automatic ban offence.

Edited by postal268: 2/26/2023 6:34:20 PMThe anti-cheat system they use already has Linux support so it would be trivial to implement it as far as I've heard they just choose not to. You'd think with as much as they've been working on getting Destiny on every console (which should be more work) they'd be on board with just enabling the anti-cheat's already made Linux support, but then think about it, they're about to release a Switch version of Destiny. Perhaps there are some politics at play where they agreed to ensure the game can't run on a steam deck to secure good relations with Nintendo for the Switch release coming up.

May I ask why doesn't Bungie support Linux? This is the first I have heard.

Because the PC and XB versions were created for Windows. All the anti-cheat systems were created for Windows and not for another OS. They would have to build a new version of the game or buy the Stadia version and create a whole new anti-cheat system. And before you say "what about Battleye" it is only the first line of cheat detection and because it is well known the first target of chest creators to bypass. Bungie does not see the time and expense of doing a Linux version worthwhile. Ps. The Stadia version was created by Stadia themselves with Bungie support.
