Call for Feedback from Destiny 2 Team

Hey Guardians, We've just created a new account here to enable us to post here on the forums more. We will be talking about this Destiny 2 Team account and others on 3rd party platforms in the TWAB shortly. For our inaugural post we wanted to create a thread to gather up some of your top priorities for changes you want to see in the game. Comment below with your feedback. Share whatever you like, just keep it civil and concise so we can read through as many as possible.

    Every currency in game is unnecessary.. You could replace everything with just glimmer... Want to master work a weapon 20k, armour 50k, exotic armor 200k, focus a weapon 100k n engram, seasonal crucible vanguard trials price depends, craft a weapon 100k, craft an exotic weapon 300k , eververse ornaments, shaders, transmates 50, 100 n 200k. Everything can drop and dismantle to glimmer... Need more glimmer GO PLAY THE GAME, harder the activity more glimmer gains... Nothing wrong with simple..... unlock the glimmer cap and trade in all current mats for glimmer and set insane prices. This would save so much space ..

    Stop having world drops completely outclass endgame gear. It removes a lot of the incentive to play raids and trials. Make master raids rewarding. Change competitive to rank based matchmaking. Give a unique ornament for the comp weapon depending on what rank you reached. Remove artifact power

  • My current pain points with the game : no other ways to farm specific exotics outside of lost sectors, SBMM is quickplay causing bery long queue times for me ( upwards of 7-8 minute when playing in a team) , lack in incentive in the competitive playslist, lack of maps in both gambit and crucible, very bad connections ( peer to peer with crossplay and sbmm don't work well togheter), the seasonal grind has become extremelly boring for me with each season having similar modes with nodes to level up it becomes very repetitive.

  • Please cut out the endless power grind. It gets so old and boring to have to grind for power to repeatedly grind the samethings over and over again. Let us play the game how we want and what we want to play in the game. And please make other activities give you clan experience, instead of just the core activities. You should get clan experience playing anything doesn't make sense not to.

      The game has evolved immensely over the last 2 years. Here are some of the big ticket items for me: 1. Target Farming Exotics should be easier. Lost Sector farming is fine at first, but the loot pools are immensely large that it can feel completely unrewarding over a play session when you're trying to get a specific one or get a nice roll and you have no way to control the outcome of most of it. 2. Give me more ways to spend Ascendant Shards (Golf Balls) and/or Prisms. Maybe this could tie into my first point. But I know for many endgame players that swim in these and have Masterworked most of their collection, I have (mostly) no use for them and would love for other ways to target specific things or otherwise. 3. Endgame cosmetics as rewards. These can be anything - mementos, ornaments, shaders, even alternate ways that Exotics look based on Triumphs. Example : Revision Zero. By accomplishing certain tasks/quests, you can have a selection of ornaments available. I'll probably add more as time goes on.

      • Primary weapons, especially scouts, needs a moderate damage buff in pve. High end content features nothing but bullet sponges and insta death. If you all want a bigger focus in gunplay then make primaries useful outside of stunning champions. Also arc warlock supers needs a massive damage buff and solar warlock (dawnblade in particular needs an overhaul). Stop neutering warlock pve because hunters keep crying in pvp. Thank you.

        • I know this will come across as bias but I really do think the warlock light 3.0 subclasses need some identity focus and synergy. For example. The whole play style of solar for warlocks is either healer or Arial death angel. The healer is fine (for the most part) but the synergy for Arial dawnblade is just not there. Phoenix dive is on way too long of a cool down to be justifiably selected and heat rises really does need a rework. It slows the user while in the air, still doesn't grant 100% in air accuracy, no additional resilience in air, have to lose a grenade to use it, and yes you get a second Icarus dash but because Icarus dash is propelled by existing momentum and heat rises slows the user, it's in no way worth it. PvE damage is non existent. Pvp super takes way too long to charge for what it is and how fast it runs out. Pre 3.0 phoenix dive was better, it had super extension on kill and could ignite enemies far far better. That's just solar. I can say similar for void (though it is in a better place) and also arc. Void needs more melees. Life steal from D1 fits the vampire identity perfectly so it should make a return. Void warlock is the only void class that can't activate it's primary void perk on class ability deployment. Void titan and hunter both activate over shields or invis on class ability use and warlocks should be the same. We shouldn't have to lose an exotic slot and use a specific exotic and a specific rift just to do what other classes can. (Especially when devour won't help you win an engagement, it's only beneficial after the fact). Arc. Both supers do not do what they need. If chaos reach is to be a DPS super then it needs to do more than any other if it's to take as long as it does to pump out that damage. Storm trance has no place in the game right now because trash mobs are trash mobs and are so easily taken out by weapons or grenades so there's no justification for that roaming super and it's a really poor choice in pvp also with bad movement and far from resilient armor. Also I really think arc lock needs blink as a jump option and it fits class perfectly.

        • It would be nice if there was more than just one chance to change our Destiny avatar names. And our avatar appearance. Seems unnecessarily restrictive that appearance is fixed and names can't be changed more than once.

        • A real emote wheel accessed by holding a button. This opens up the ability to select different abilities: melees, grenades and supers on the go.

        • - glimmer capacity increase - resonant elements capacity increase - more ways to earn ascendant shards and alloys - maybe daily challenges for crafted weapons, as an alternate way to level them up (shuro chi is boring) thanks for taking the time btw.

        • Can we make the fastball mod intrinsic just like traction was. It feels terrible to use grenades without it. And it sucks to lose out on reloader or dexterity mods just to have fastball. Please make fastball intrinsic.

[b][u]My background:[/u][/b]I've played destiny since d1 beta, i have thousands of hours, multiple day 1 raids, multiple solo flawless dungeons, multiple low man raids, multiple flawless raids. i have finished multiple seasons with multiple pvp modes inside the top 1% (currently top 0.1% in momentum, top 0.1% in gambit LOL, and top 0.8% in gambit and trials) with over 100 flawless with multiple guildings of flawless/unbroken/glorious. I have every seal in the game available, every exotic, etc. I have poured 1000s of dollars into the destiny franchise (dlcs, eververse, lore books, etc.,). I've played destiny more than any other game, though destinys direction at the beginning of d2 made me take a several year break. I've reached grandmaster in Overwatch, pred in Apex and enjoy pve games as well. Additionally, i am an engineer (aerospace) so when i talk about time and effort and programming I'm not talking out my -blam!-. I will give my feedback on PVE (Campaigns, seasons, raids+dungeons, strikes and exotic missions), pvp (trials, comp/ranked, sbmm vs cbmm, maps and meta), gambit and quality of life (including the dcv). I'll try to be as clear as possible but understand the passion and frustration i feel as someone who has poured so much of themselves into this game constantly feels like the game is trying to make me not want to play it. [b][u]PVE[/u][/b] [u]Campaigns[/u] This section is in response to campaigns like the witch queen or forshaken quest lines, not seasonal. TWQ was an AMAZING story and narrative piece and was compelling. the legendary campaign was great, as was the scaling. I understand that this kind of work takes significant time and effort and it shows. Why is there no cohesive way to play through all the campaigns? i should be able to play through d1 vanilla-d2 current and re-experience all the campaigns. i shouldn't have to tell knew players to go to youtube to understand the basics of the destiny story, no less the lore. in Halo, beating all the campaigns on the hardest difficultly with you friends was a huge accomplishment, in destiny 2, you can only play TWQ on legendary, which, isn't even hard. I want to be able to play ALL of the destiny campaigns on Legendary/Master/Grandmaster. I want to do this from a launch screen and be able to launch 1 mission after the next. [u]Seasons[/u] I want to be able to play all the seasonal modes in the strike playlist. These should also be in the game. The seasonal formal has become stale, I dont want to have to regrind to be able to do activities i could do at the end of last season. The artifact changes are good. Stop bringing back areas/guns that were taken away in the DCV and calling it content. Stop removing seasons at the end of the year. [u]Raids and Dungeons[/u] Make raid and dungeon seals guildable by requiring a flawless run (and other things, or solo flawless for dungeons) every season. I know there are changes to adept weapons to make master raids worth it so thats a start. every raid and dungeon should have a master mode. dungeons should give spoils and have a chest at the end. the raid/dungeon rotator "playlist" needs to have more difficulty options, and scaled rewards (normal, legendary, master GRANDMASTER). There should have a seal for doing things in this playlist. The dungeon/raid playlist should be launchable from the "legends" node (next to pvp, strikes, gambit) and i shouldnt have to go find it in the world. Master Dungeons should also drop adept weapons and master raids should also drop artiface armor (both the raid mod slot and artiface slot). Bring back all old raids, and do it 2x faster than you are. we should be getting all the old raids back with in 2 years. [u]Exotic missions[/u] Exotic missions are some of the most fun content destiny has and should be playable at all times. in fact, i think they should have their own playlist in legends and be part of the seal i mentioned previously. They should have all difficulty options (normal, legendary, master, grandmaster) [u]Strikes[/u] The Strike playlist lays forgotten and needs a face-lift. adding battle grounds was a good start but there should be every seasonal activity in there, and there should be an additional playlist for 6v6 playlists, which should include things like wellsprings. Grandmasters are great... for 1 week when you do them all and finish the seal. They should be released right away at season launch and just have a -25(?) modifier on them, no entry light required (seems that you're headed this way which is great!). All strikes in the game should be playable on grandmaster and required for the seal guilding (or make a new seal idc). Making GMs launch right away will take frustrations away from rotating loot since there will be more time to farm (e.g., adept windago only being farmable 1 week during this season) [u]Horde mode[/u] Why is there no infinite horde mode in destiny? let me (alone or with friends) defeat endless waves of increasingly strong enemies until we can't any more. think: tower defense, the gamemode literally writes itself lol. [b][u]Gambit[/u][/b] Sigh. is this gamemode thought of at all since season of the drifter? first of all, maps, maps, maps. you took away maps and havent made any new ones for like 4 years? come on, bring back the old ones and make new ones. 1 every other season would be an appropriate pace. Bring back gambit Prime or make new gambit modes - dont replace this one just make more. PVEVP doesnt only exist in this form, there are others that should be explored. additionally, there are so many broken things in gambit that need to be addressed like motes under the map and bugged weapons. [b][u]PVP[/u][/b] oh boy [u]Trials[/u] Remove flawless pool. this has significantly hurt the mode. remove light level and tie entry criteria to owning the latest dlc. i know a fear here is that it could make cheating easier, simply monitor the situation but if you want to get pvp back into destiny trials is a huge draw but they are less interested knowing theyd have to grind to even play. do not implement sbmm into this gamemode, i promise this will completely kill it. cap point weekend is a good addition. Have more map options. [u]Ranked[/u] There is no meaningful ranking system in destiny 2 since it is tied to sbmm. reaching higher ranks is simply a factor of luck/time played since its sbmm and thats not how ranked should work. I know smurfing is a concern - make it tied to owning the current dlc. Ranked needs REAL rewards, not a participation trophy (looking at you, Rose). Every other competitive game (apex, Overwatch, league, valorant, etc.,) gives rewards based on your rank (cosmetic only!!). i know there have been words this is coming in LF but launching ranked with no rewards and sbmm made it dead on arrival. [u]Sbmm/cbmm/lbmm/fbmm[/u] Sbmm has no place in destiny 2. It punishes players for being good and rewards players for being bad. The majority of time spent in pvp is by good players and yet you continue to try and focus on ppl that barely play pvp. comp should be the place for balanced pvp. quick play should just be cbmm. additionally, p2p connections have to go. the connections were bad before sbmm and they are wayyy worse now since sbmm has driven many pvp players to quit and sbmm also means skilled players have generally significantly worse connections. lbmm and fbmm are the way to go and great alternatives to these problems + solo queue. [u]maps[/u] Simply unvault all the d1 and d2 maps in the DCV and make more. there should be AT LEAST 1 new map and 1 unvaulted map PER SEASON. Please stop making massive maps for a bit, ya? [u]Modes[/u] The combination of modes, i think, was done to help reduce the strain from a declining pvp playerbase. we need more modes, maps and better connections, this is what makes ppl go to pvp. there should be 12v12 on the huge d1 vehicle maps, erruption, srl and more in pvp at all times. [u]meta[/u] Nearly all changes made into pvp over the last year (with the exception of the last 2 weeks of twabs and notes) have been made to reduce skill gap and punish good players. AE, slide nerf, movement nerf, big maps and team firing were all changes to reduce skill game. i know a lot of these are being reverted but this was terrible and should never have happened. [b][u]Quality of Life[/u][/b] There's been a lot of good in this lately, which is awesome! The removal of Blue drops is amazing but i should also be able to have gear auto-dismantled if it has below a certain stat roll, or had a 5th mod slot (raid, artiface, etc) or a special modifier (seasonal bonus gear). pvp map voting. let me go into a custom game while queueing for a pvp game. stop kicking me out of my menu every second im loading into something. latency in pve (rubberbanding health bars, completions not happening, etc.). let me save specific controls per character, per subclass. let me save sensitivities per weapon type (sniper, shotty, etc.). stop nerfing player positive things so fast while player negative things last for months. idc that it was finished faster, duality was bugged, and still has bugs, 7 months later, but double eager edge swiping was fixed in like 2 weeks. why was the vault of glass atheon finisher bug ever a priority to fix? is fixing a bug that made low mans of a 7 year old raid boss really a priority of fixing a new dungeon that randomly kills players? idc if it was something that was finally gotten to or whatever there should have been 0 hours put into that while the game has game breaking bugs. I would like an in game encyclopedia with a cutscene library, tutorials and explanations on everything in the game, from mods to perks to lore. I love this game so much i typed this. Please, listen.

        • Warlock Empowering Rift Don't you think so?! I mean the buff is only 15% and I would say that 80% of the player-base uses Healing Rift anyway. I'd say a good/fun replacement can be: - Ability Rift (Now increases the speed at which players abilities recharge. This does NOT include Super abilities) - Supreme Rift (This healing rift is 30% bigger and heals for 30% more BUT only lasts 7 seconds) - Hidden Rift (This rift is 30% bigger and makes Gaurdian's who stand in it invisible) - Elementals Rift (This rift allows weapons to change elements based on the type: *Kinetic weapons change elements based on the subclass equipped. *Energy weapons now adopt all 4 elements at once. -Fired Rift (Increases the rate if fire for all weapons equipped by 30%) -Charges Rift (Based on the subclass chosen, this rift will add effects to your weapons while standing in it. For instance: Solar Weapons will burn targets. Burning targets ignite on death. Stasis Weapons slow targets. Enough stacks will freeze the target. What do you'll think?? No doubt several rift exotics would need to be modified but I don't think it would break the game.

            Please do better with the warlock classes. They should be space battlemages, not a support class. The name literally has war in it. Also Please consider giving all classes a dodge ability. It really should've been a movement mechanic in the game rather than a class thing.

              I'm mostly a PvE player, Crucible Gambit and the like don't interest me. Please redo the catalyst quests (like Witherhoard's [The Bank Job]) to have a non PvP path to complete, you'll save players from the frustration of cheaters and unbalanced match-making. Un-sunset the older guns: The teams can re-add them in waves after reviewing perk pools to ensure that they're up to date. It would also be a bonus for them to be craftable, adding more variety to our loadouts. Bring back the old Patrol Zones and story missions: The last 2 seasons have re-used spaces from the Hellas Basin area of Mars, having the extra areas to explore and run around would be welcome. Old Strikes and story missions need to come back to add more variety to a shallow list, and show the newer players what they've not seen before.

            • If this IS the D2 dev team reading this, I have not exactly feedback but changes I’d like to personally see in the long term of this game. At the moment I think you guys are working well with all the QoL changes and system improvements (character builds, load out systems, mods, etc) and while I don’t wanna regurgitate what most people are asking for now (PvP changes, netcode) I wanna just share some ideas that could be possible down the road or in the next saga 1.) Better narrative direction and new player experience The lore is great and has been building for years however there’s no real way to understand the entire narrative in game currently. WQ was great and I’m sure LF will be too, however it’s like starting at episode 100 or reading 3/4 the way of a book, you won’t have any idea what’s going on or what’s at stake for these characters. 2.) Destinations need more variety You put so much time and effort into these zones just for them to be abandoned and simply used as a place to do a seasonal challenge every so often. World bosses, events, etc would be a good start however there could be more done besides combat loops. I’ll explain in another point. 3.) player housing A little extreme, but more in the sense of warframe’s dojos. Essentially spaces for players to display collectibles or items you can earn in game and create essentially a trophy room of sorts. The idea is somewhat already in the game from the Europa room and the helm (Calus bobble heads and warmind nodes) however this could give huge incentive towards completionism besides titles/seals 4.) More social aspects! You may say to raid you need to communicate, however majority of the game isn’t really social, I’d suggest adding small mini games or activities you do just for fun with no real gear or combat incentive. (Sparrow racing is a start) maybe tie cosmetics to it or something. 5.) Crafting/Gathering I really am not sure how this would be implemented, most definitely not anytime right now as we’re in the end of the current saga, however in whatever comes after Final shape or later considering how many allied races we’ve made there could be restoration projects for us? Building new homes for say the Cabal or Eliksni could be a start. Once again I do not know an exact way to implement this but the concept would be interesting in a game like destiny. Most of these ideas I do not expect at all anytime soon or even further, these more or less would lean into MMORPG territory but why not? Destiny needs to feel more alive as a game beyond just being a chore list every week. PvP changes, meta changes, this is broken that is broken just makes this game feel stressful and unfun. D2 team, consider those suggestions if you plan on making bigger content past The final shape. This franchise needs innovation.

              Strike specific loot like in D1. Faster animations for Titan Walls and Warlock Wells.
