Call for Feedback from Destiny 2 Team

Hey Guardians, We've just created a new account here to enable us to post here on the forums more. We will be talking about this Destiny 2 Team account and others on 3rd party platforms in the TWAB shortly. For our inaugural post we wanted to create a thread to gather up some of your top priorities for changes you want to see in the game. Comment below with your feedback. Share whatever you like, just keep it civil and concise so we can read through as many as possible.

  • Ignore literally everyone not saying dedicated servers. Their opinions are noteworthy in the future where you have dedicated servers and a game that runs properly like any other AAA game

      Vault space: Destiny is a loot based game. ignoring the usual comments of dismantle things Im not using, players should be at a minimum be able to stash 1 copy of every weapon/exotic in the game...currently you can But then you have no room for alternate rolls or different armor stat rolls...with lightfall approaching I am dreading the ever increasing amount of time I spend shuffling gear

    • Weapon crafting is just not worth it in its current state. I understand you have to create content and make players “work” for that crafted weapon roll but it needs to be made easier and user friendly.

      new updated huds like the health bar, ablitys, the no respawn icon, also a new way to teach new lights how to play the game, like ghost talking to their guardian at the start. "Hey guardian, since you been dead for a long time, try to streech you legs" with the wasd promp come up. one last thing, please change the guardian has left, and your the fire team leader to something that isn't the same as the we are trying to contact the destiny 2 servers. Edit: also the nessesa voicelines have been bugged for a long time now where theirs just silence whenever a charater trys to talk

    • PvP needs help. You know it’s bad when, when asked what’s meta, veteran players say “guns aren’t even meta. It’s abilities.” And they’re right. More than ever I feel like I’m playing the shooter equivalent of Mario Kart (albeit frankly, less competitive than Mario Kart). Regarding PvP, Bungie has a habit of saying one thing and then doing almost the complete opposite. Saying “we want to get back to a focus on gunplay” and then consciously moving toward the cheesiest, most ability-dominated sandbox PvP has ever seen. Saying they want to make PvP more rewarding, and then introducing a “ranked” playlist that not only isn’t rank-based at all, but has ZERO rewards — in a looter game, no less! Not even a unique shader or emblem. This is what happens when you have a company that made $3 billion-plus in 2022, but won’t pay the comparatively tiny cost of hiring a dedicated PvP team for its flagship (and currently, only) game. The way things are going, it seems almost certain to me that Destiny PvP’s best days are behind us. I hope Bungie steps up and proves me wrong. In the meantime, vote with your wallets; it’s the only thing Bungie seems to understand. I didn’t buy Witch Queen, and unless I see proof of real action on PvP — and not just talk, which is all we usually get — I won’t be buying Lightfall or any other expansion, or any season passes.

      Is there any chance of buffing Salvation's Grip or even reworking it? The weapon is lacking in general and it's only been used for the Stasis questline. Another issue is that it's taking up the heavy weapon slot as an exotic when there are better options in there. A couple of change I would like to see are: [quote]- Damage scales off the number and size of the Stasis Crystals that are formed by holding the reload to consume your Super (similar to Ager's Scepter catalyst). - Tap the trigger to detonate Stasis Crystals, rather than shooting them with another gun. [/quote] One of the traits I think that would work are: [quote] -Ambitious Assasin -Explosive Light -Vorpal -Frenzy[/quote] The grenade launcher is fun to use but there's no use for it in any content to make it viable. I know this weapon isn't everyone's favorite but please do something about this one as it desperately needs a buff.

    • Playing trails today as Hunter unbalance junk. Titans have edge with barricade and bubble. This type of competition should have zero abilities and supers just gun play.

      • My biggest gripe is how it feels like some exotic weapons and armors basically feel like they have been left behind in the dust in regards to relevancy, while ones with better ease of use or good synergy with perks and mods end up thrown into the crosshairs of nerfs more often. I would much rather prefer that the team puts a hold off on crafting new exotics in order to focus on revitalizing the current armory. I want to find more use out of stuff like Sanguine Alchemy and Felwinter’s Helm, have some sort of a reason to use Mechaneer’s Tricksleeves over Ahamkara’s Spine(without nerfing Tripmines) or whatever the arc subclass equivalent might be at the time. As a player who has a full armory of exotics, I hardly use half of them even just for fun because I feel like I’m putting myself at that much of a disadvantage by trying to force a build into them, and I can’t imagine how that would make newer players feel when getting their first exotic and its something like Sixth Coyote.

        • All I can say Bungie is good luck with fixing Destiny before Light Fall comes out on the 28th of February. If the game is fixed by then, I'll consider preordering. If not, good luck to the guardians and the future of this game.

            • You have the worst matchmaking ever known to exist, and crossplay is absolute garbage. Kind of thought this would be obvious, but guess you need telling again for the seven millionth time. Can't get this right, nothing else you pretend to care about means squat.

              • What your weapons sandboxing team has taken away from us. Give us the ability to choose our own scopes for our weapons. The fact that you can do that in Destiny 1 and not in Destiny 2 is very disappointing.

                • First of all, thank you for continuing to engage and show responsiveness to community feedback. A lot of the pain points I have seen over my years of playing D1/D2 have been addressed, and some of the newer changes I have seen are being dialed back when they miss the mark. Great sign of leadership to admit and correct mistakes made during a creative process. ~~~ My biggest PvE pain points of armor affinity and champion mods limiting build options are both finally being pulled back. And in PvP, over the last couple seasons my biggest gripes in the Crucible [i](limiting one-shot abilities and weapons, as well as improving match-making to create less lopsided teams and matches)[/i], both were and continue to be dealt with. So, what I would request instead is a push towards more large, open crucible maps [i](I really miss the old combined arms play from D1)[/i]. I don't know if it was the lack of corner camping with shotguns and abilities, or the use of vehicles to flank/charge in, but the gunfights always seemed so much more diverse and interesting. Also pinnacle focusing options. If you are committed to keeping this leveling system in the game, at least give players a way to circumvent obnoxiously bad streaks of RNG. There is nothing more frustrating than getting 3/4 Iron Banner drops in the same slot on a character, when that is the only reward some people play for. I would rather be engaging with new seasonal activities, or grinding out lost sectors and dungeons for better gear. It's not enjoyable being forced to spend several hours each week grinding the same core playlists from the last 7+ years, just to reach max level to even hope of engaging with Grandmaster level content. Limit the number of focuses available per week if you must, but give more casual players a reasonable and logical path to reaching max level before the final two week of the season. ~~~ Might have some inventory related feedback as well, but the build-crafting updates could alleviate that, so I'll hold until next season. Open, combined-arms maps and pinnacle focusing are definitely the two most pressing issues for me. Thanks again for the engagement! Always nice to feel heard/seen.

                • Can you remove the time limit on when picking up da orb in rift? I like to hold it the entire game and tie the game but it’s difficult when I have to die and hand it off to my teamate

                  Most of my gripes has already been addressed but I will name my top 3. That are driving me away from the game. Separate seasonal currency and core playlists 1) please separate the seasonal currency from core playlists as that has been a huge factor of burnout for me. Requiring me to play outdated and neglected playlists that I have ran multiple times just makes for a stale experience. The seasonal experience hasn’t been any better as it’s been to formulated, repetitive, and recycled content. Innovation is key to the success of a live service game to survive and there hasn’t been any lately. Paid content should be new end of story as we are paying for something new not used. (After this year of paid for recycled content I am no longer getting the digital deluxe and only buy stuff after it releases if I like it) Reduce fomo in the game 2) please cut down on the fomo as it makes me feel like I “need” to play the game vs want to play the game because I am going to miss something powerful or cool looking for it never to return again. This addicting game loop feels like a crutch to keep people invested in the game but it’s just driving me away from games in general as it has ruined the experience. The areas this can improve are the bright dust section of Eververse, nightfall and trials rotating weapons, rotating crucible playlists, seasonal and season pass. 2)a Bright dust fomo For the bright dust section of Eververse just give it the same offering as the silver section. For example remove the weekly rotating offers and give it the same size of offerings as the archive section. Why should I be punished (especially since bright dust sources don’t drop much to begin with consider adding bright dust to all weekly challenges) for not having enough bright dust when something was offered and now have to wait for it to return if ever. I understand the you should have been there argument, but come on not all of us have time or money always in hand to fully enjoy a game that basically requires you to treat it like a second job to fully enjoy it. 2)b nightfall weapon fomo For the nightfall and trials rotating loot is consider having all the nightfalls open in one tab instead of rotating weekly and you can just select the strike you want to farm instead of waiting weeks for a chance at the weapon. This will allow people to try for the weapon all season instead of only a few weeks a season. For the weekly rotating nightfall strike maybe it can have the option to target a specific perk on the weapon upon completion with a specific champion kill count or score threshold. For trials that’s a tough one but what if the weapons and removed from rotation still had the ability to be focused just not the ability to be earned from match completions as the gun model is still in the game. 2)c season pass fomo For the seasonal passes consider adding the stuff removed at the end of the year to the silver and bright dust section of Eververse to be purchased after the expansion runs its course (similar to season pass exotics and the monument of the lost console). Destiny fashion is like a fad and people like to be trendy, so I don’t see the problem with allowing people late to the party to purchase these items since most people will have forgotten these old cosmetics and Rick the latest cosmetics. (Plus you get the benefit of more transactions for silver) it’s a win win for both sides. 2)d seasonal activity fomo For the seasonal modes you’re on the right track by designing them to be added to the vanguard playlist once the next expansion launches. The older season modes that didn’t get this treatment should be added to the legends playlist at some point as it still bugs me I can’t play vex offensive or zero hour. You put all that work into the mode only for it to be enjoyable for so long? Why wouldn’t you want it to stick around so many people can enjoy it? Video games are considered art right? Let people enjoy the art whenever they want. Some seasonal missions have sections that can be used as crucible maps so consider designing sections that can later be repurposed as crucible maps after the season has run its course (operation archimedes launch facility is a prime example of this). This modular mind set is perfect as why delete what you can still use am I right? Illogical priority for bugs, nerfs, and buffs 3)the lack of urgency to fix game breaking bugs, the amount of bugs, and the weird priorities towards bugs, nerfs, and buffs. We are not your QA department First I will start with we the community are not your QA department do not sacrifice our fun to test new systems. If you do this and we deem the system detrimental to our fun then all haste should be made to reverse the change. I will use airborne effectiveness as an example as when it was launched for months the community said they didn’t like it. Instead of removing it or reverting it you just kept changing it slowly over a period of months further angering the community. Had you told us airborne effectiveness real purpose the community might have been more understanding. The lack of urgency is a big one as for me the whole excuse for live service games is to give devs the flexibility to fix bugs in a timely manner but as of late that hasn’t been the case for you. The duality bell took FOUR months to fix and it still can kill you. The issue that causes the game to crash at startup and randomly during gameplay still hasn’t been fixed. The issue with the servers to cause content to load slowly if not at all is still a recurring issue. Why are these issues not getting the same priority as the nerfs to our favorite weapons? The mentality of getting things to a working state instantly of a polished state needs to be rectified. Urgency to fix bugs and issues like this should be of your highest priority not giving 80 AE to heavy snipers. Too many bugs The amount of bugs in the game is just getting to much. Investing in QA is something I would not cheap out on. Bug priorities The illogical priorities of bugs, nerfs, and buffs. I meantioned the issue with bugs above. For the nerfs stop nerfing the most used stuff in the game only. How about instead buffing underused stuff. Give us a diverse tool kit. For pvp why not buff something to be the counter to something running rampant. For example for the lord of wolves Omni builds what if delicate tomb got buffed slightly and you paired it with pre nerfed arc web grenades/crown of tempests to dissuade them from sticking together. Also stop overdoing nerfs to make things not usable. A bonus one is overhauling your error codes to actually have meaningful and helpful text that actually helps the user.

                  • Here's something I would kinda like to see. You seemed to think that divinity was a problem because it rendered hunters slightly irrelevant in regards to weakening... Why don't you add an exotic armor for hunters that causes their tether to work the same way. Striking a target with deadfall instead of tethering near by enemies applies damage to the target, weakness, and also leaves a pulsing target where any damage landing inside that area will be considered critical damage. Mobius quiver working the same way but you can strike up to idk 6 targets but it lasts a much shorter time. The exotic meanwhile is still a fairly powerful weapon that in this scenario is giving a player the power of a super at their casual demand. I mean there will be people upset by the idea, mostly the "it removes the need for precision" people...... Well............. Line rifles are getting nerfed and snipers are basically irrelevant in most content because the pay off is not worth the effort of use. I think its a pretty good idea to let hunters fill the hole that is left by divinity.... especially on bosses that run like hell like the harpy on spire.

                  • Until dedicated servers none of the rest matters. You’re just fixing things that’ll work better with dedicated servers and will need readjusted when your company grows into a respected developer who doesn’t cheap and laze out on correcting what has ALWAYS been the game’s biggest fault.

                  • noticed in trials that the matching is a bit broken it matches one team with average players but the puts them up against a team of matched players that are good. Should be average against average and good against good that way everyone has fun and the people that go to the light house actually earns it rather than just curb stomping their way to it And before you say but there are not enough people playing trials or PvP. Maybe people would if it was made fun. And the competitive allways times out again probably not enough players. When you fix these problems advertise it ALOT so everyone knows PvP might actually be fun for everyone

                    Make the game less of a grind and more about the experience. But atleast try to make Destiny 2 have a coherent story! If you haven't played Destiny 1 or Destiny 2 first two years, you will never have a way to fully understand the story! We need a Destiny 3 that merges Destiny 1 and 2 and makes all campaigns playable in a logical order like in any other MMO! And dedicated severs! And 120hz support for PVE And fix the lighting in Destiny 2 it sucks, it sucks compared to Destiny 1 or pre beyond light. It is either washed out, to white, to bright or just to dark, takes so much away from the total experience!

                    • Custom Sparrows I know most people see sparrows has cosmetic, with the exceptions of Scourge and Grasp, but how about a sparrow 2.0 , or sparrow crafting, let us choose the skin,perks and engine speed,and trail color and effects, and you could put a grind to it for the parts, like you would have to get certain engines from aspirational content like Raids and Dungeons to make them faster And you could sell Sparrow Ornaments ,along with horns so you wouldn't lose any revenue
