The Ace of Spades was originally Cayde-6’s weapon. But where did he get it from? In the “most loyal” lore book it talks about Variks and the Prison of Elders. Variks needed a job done. I myself forgot if it had something to do with the Scorn or Taniks. But Variks became desperate. The Awoken would not help him. So he found Cayde. Who, seems like, in the lore book was more dangerous, less hilarious. Cayde at first refused the the request. This turned into an argument between Variks and Cayde. But Variks slapped a gun on the table. Cayde in shock- “is that…” Variks confirmed that it was the last of its kind. Reef-made hand cannon from the golden age. At this point Cayde could not refuse. So after all that the Ace was a reward for Cayde from Variks.
