It occurs to me that the whole streamer giveaway thing is a way to engage the community and generate free advertisement for the game.
But it is so crazy that you'd have content creators be the ones to deal out one of the best emblems to come out in a long a time.
Yes you generate hype, but at what cost? Would you rather not have it behind some big challenge *inside* of the game? What's the endgame here, have people watch the game instead of playing it?
I've been in a few of these raffles now, and though this is just my opinion, the whole thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth. If I'm only watching a streamer to get an emblem, who wins here?
Not me; I don't have a good emblem OR a reason to play the game I love.
Not the streamers; people won't become a regular viewer if they only have the emblem in mind, or have a bad experience with stream when not winning it.
Not you Bungie; you are hurting the community more than you are nurturing it by forcing interaction.
And I haven't even touched on the fact that there is basically a black market selling the emblems for up to 1200 USD. Or all the scams for that matter.
What does everyone think about this whole emblem giveaway?
