Majority of players Don’t RAID.

Majority of players don’t raid, not because they don’t want to, but because they do not possess the prior knowledge needed in order to obtain access to a fireteam. In other words, most players will get kicked because they do not know how to do the raid. Most fireteams will say know what to do or get kicked. If a player comes into the party and says I’ve never done it before but I’ve watched the video. I would say he’s got a 50-50 chance of being booted from the party. What I’m trying to say is Raids are pretty much the team tactical of Destiny. No one wants to read that I’m saying raids should be easier to comprehend in order to complete. Most people that Raid will say they wish Raids were harder but what no one is paying attention to is that only 20% of the players that play Destiny actually even step foot in the raid and only 10% of that population of Destiny actually complete it. I don’t know how much money it cost to build a raid But if I’m a developer and they spend $2 million on building a raid and only 10% of the population of the game completed it….. I would think that something may be wrong. I wish difficulty was based upon player skill level. Your ability to aim and your ability to maneuver and stay alive and not get hit. Yes there’s a lot of that in Raids already, however solving a puzzle your first time doing a raid can be difficult, but what’s even more frustrating is trying to teach someone who’s never done it how to do it. We would all love a strong, healthy challenge that does require some thought, but not enough for a group of a fireteam of players to become so frustrated to where they quit give up or boot a player because they’re having difficulty comprehending the puzzle. I wonder how much money could Bungie be making if the Raids they built we’re just simply easier to comprehend. This is the part where you say the Raid is simple if you know what to do. Maybe you’re right maybe I’m just not that smart. Maybe I just want a raid that’s more of a huge long public event or six player activity like the blindwell or the wellspring attack/defend. I think it would be awesome to have a easy puzzle like public events but the enemies of a GM Nightfall for 45 minutes to an hour and a half. That way only thing we have to worry about is simply staying alive. I think that would be fun. No harm intended by this post just sharing my thoughts. Thank you for reading.

  • I agree with you 100%. The LFG is only filled with KWTD or get kicked. I also don't want to watch an hour long video, and learn 20 random symbols that mean nothing to me, just to attempt a raid. Bungie also loves the wipe mechanics, so it makes it tougher for people to carry a newb during his first attempt.

  • Bruh I agree with this post people need to start being nicer in raids and stop overreacting JUST BECAUSE YOUVE DONE A RAIDS DOES NOT MAKE YOU COOL

  • If you want to raid form a team of friends and work through it or find a sherpa. Commit to a few hours a week at a certain time and you should be able to get further each week. I always thought the difficulty was in getting 6 people that can work together. I got sick of the lack of rewards, having to make callouts, etc. Normal raids should not require a revive token IMO. Every encounter shouldn't be tedious. There's stuff to do in the game for casual players, but most of the content is structured around the top few. Even if you play PVP it's only catering to the top players. Most people are around avg. yet if you try to play any game mode even rumble they put 2 or more people that are playing the game for a living.

  • Raids aren’t difficult though as long as the person puts a modicum amount of effort into listening and being able to follow directions… There are so many clans and discords and sherpas out there but maybe a lot of the community simply doesn’t know the resources exist. Before I joined an clan and discord I didn’t know where to even begin to get started in raiding - luckily someone pontes me to /r/destinysherpa

  • That Raids have so little engagement is partially a difficulty but also much to do with the fact that it's no matchmaking and requires 6plyrs. This makes this heavily a matter of the community, an element I introduced an idea for a week or so ago that got interesting responses.

  • Yeah. In other games you can join a raid easy, but raids in D2 are mechanic heavy, impossible to just jump into.

  • Honestly none of the raids in this game require you to be galaxy-brained, just go to LFG and say nothing unless directly asked. It's better if you don't volunteer information such as the fact you haven't got a completion. Do the research and you'll be rewarded. LFG is an extra layer of luck and RNG so really you'll want to join a clan that is comfortable with teaching. And if none of that sounds appealing, well I'm sorry but it won't change. Raids in general are very well received by the community and are the most anticipated things for the major DLCs, so hop on the train or you'll forever be missing out.

    • Create your own party. You have the power to kick or who you want in. Specify that you don’t know what you’re doing or not that skilled. & you control who stays or doesn’t. Things shouldn’t be dumbed down for a group of people. They already made the raids so easy it’s silly. D1 taken king is nothing compared to what it is now. They dumbed everything down for the same reasons you mentioned & people still have a problem.
