The changes to SMGs and Rangefinder are obviously bad for the PvP meta

Bungie mentioned in the recent TWAB that they'll be nerfing some SMGs that have longer ranges, most likely because they think it will give ARs more room to breathe. This makes absolutely no sense. Firstly, the meta outside of SMG range is obviously HCs and pulses, not ARs. If I'm realizing that my SMG can't reach far enough to be effective against certain opponents, I will never switch to an AR, I switch to a HC. On top of this, the CQC meta is already fairly toxic. Melee-teleporting and ability spam already make CQC chaotic and low-skill, and nerfing weapons like SMGs that thrive in that environment will do nothing but make CQC combat suck even more. The Rangefinder nerfs are also nonsensical, because we're currently in an extremely pulse-dominant meta, and even with the nerfs to NTTE, weapons like BXR and -blam!- will still be insanely effective, and will still outcompete HCs in a massive range of scenarios. The nerf to Rangefinder will do nothing but make pulses even more dominant, and this will also hurt SMGs even more, on top of the other nerf they're getting. The only consolation prize we get here is that sidearms are going to be getting a buff, which I have been wanting for a very long time. Bungie, watch how people actually play the game; don't try and force ARs into the meta by misreading the way the meta actually works out in-practice.
