PTI, but maybe it's not so much Divinity?

First off, apologies, everyone. This started off really short and turned into a giant wall of text. Really, the apology is for not having a tl;dr, cuz, I’m just not gonna. In fairness, I’ll start by saying there is a legitimate case for nerfing Divinity. Dam…that hurt to say. A lot! But, I know it’s never good to spec around outliers. It *always* produces unwanted results. Like writing the perfect regular expression that accounts for every possibility. It’ll no-look pass every test. As soon as it’s deployed - memory leak - all your users are in an infinite loop - FAIL! Here’s the thing, the case for nerfing divinity requires us players to make some very important assumptions. We have to assume that the endgame content will be designed well. We have to assume that when we play it, we won’t be negatively impacted by gaps in design, bugs with DPS, load outs, mechanics, misleading or missing text or cues, or that the content itself won’t stress the network architecture or simply kill us outright. Maybe our PC platform friends experience little to nothing of that, which would make them great allies to support nerfs like this. It makes sense. I don’t know. You never released the game for Mac, so, I’m day 1 console. I also don’t know who this Salt person is. Frankly, I don’t care. He’s probably super cool. Maybe he’s on console. If so, I’ll be the first to recognize that some guardians are just amazing at the game. And, why not listen to the guy that proved himself that way? It should be fun for them, too. The problem is that most others in your player base cannot make any of the assumptions they need to meet you halfway. If they could, they’d take it in stride. Some would complain, but they’d get over it. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. This isn’t like Whisper, specifically because end-game has gotten steadily worse since that nerf. We’ve started calling it “fake difficulty” in my clan - all the things a fireteam has to deal with outside the normal content spec. Again, not as big a deal on PC, I assume. Honestly, I’m really surprised at how little next-gen consoles improved gameplay. Maybe you are, too. Anyway, it’s the fact that we have a name for it - fake difficulty - that’s telling. it’s been steadily driving people away, keeping people from logging in as much, including some of the most forgiving people I’ve met in this community. Combined with the fact that you put a lot of effort into increasing end-game difficulty, the fake-difficulty is just a bridge too far for a lot of people. I’m not saying increased difficulty is bad. I’m saying increased difficulty with a big-farting glob of fake-difficulty on top…bad. To be fair, any difficulty in King’s Fall is just fake. The hardest part of KF is explaining it to people who haven’t done it. [I’m purposefully not making eye-contact with Golgoroth’s Gaze…wink!] My point is, that’s why people are complaining about the Divinity nerf - it’s not really about the nerf - it’s that you’ll do it and give us a good purist-reason in the face of all the fake-difficulty that you don’t address or won’t recognize. That’s their real issue, imho. And, this so-called “divide” only exists because there are players who don’t experience the game that way, or at least, they won’t admit it. Funny thing, I’m pretty sure that’s really what people are complaining about when you hear almost anything bad containing the word “streamers”. What’s that stupid thing Uhtred always says? “Destiny is all!” Yeah, I’m with stupid.
